Buy units and use them to defeat your enemies on the battlefield in this turn-based strategy game. #Turn-based strategy #Multiplayer tactics #Online TBS #Strategy #Multiplayer #Tactic
Most strategy games require you to come up with a plan before you are able to come out victorious from a battle, since it’s rarely a good idea to just send all of your troops forward and hope for the best. Granted, some games are more keen on the tactics than others, which is especially true for turn-based titles, mainly because you get a lot more time to think about your next move.
Oldage is a multiplayer TBS in which your main goal is to make the most out of your units and try to climb the ladder in order to become the best player out there. The mechanics are deceivingly simple at first, given the fact that all you have to do is move, attack and defend, but as with every other simple thing, there are many different ways to go once the battle starts.
There’s a tutorial in place to show you the basics at the beginning, and you also get enough gold to purchase one or two units. It’s actually very important to make the right choice here, otherwise you might not be able to afford a better one for quite a while. After that, you basically just queue for battles and face other players on tiny maps, much like a game of chess.
Since you can only afford a unit or two at first, it’s important to win battles in order to be rewarded with gold and enlarge your army. However, it takes quite a while to do so, and you may end up being defeated too many times in a row. There’s no way to lose the units you already have, but it’s quite frustrating to be stuck with them for a long time because you cannot get the most out of them.
Naturally, the game features in-app purchases, which means that instead of getting good at it you can just use real money and purchase as many units as you like. While it is true that your tactics are what matter the most at the end of the day, it’s still pretty annoying that a complete beginner can have more troops than you just because he has a bigger wallet.
Oldage is not a bad game at all, especially if you are a turn-based fan with not much spare time on your hands. The matches are quick and fun, but the fact that it takes so much time to get new units might get on your nerves after a while.
