Glue Engine is a development tool designed for those who want to create their own games without having to worry about highly complex coding, model building and so on. Like the glue that makes everything stick together, Glue Engine is built to house everything you need to piece together your game.

Glue Engine features a wide range of tools that can be used for game development. It offers real-time scene rendering, simple object manipulation, automatic lights and shadow calculation, you can import models, write script and more.

Most of the tools are there in plain sight, and those that are not are intuitively placed in well structured menus and submenus. For the novice game developer, Glue Engine is a good place to start given its simple GUI, easy to understand tools and options. However, you do need to pay a visit to the Documentation section of the launcher because although the tool is easy to use, your first encounter with it might not be all that comprehensive.

Glue Engine is still in very early stages of development and you can see it in the lack of GUI polishing. The tools also need a bit more options added or presented in a more explicit way. Selecting and moving an object is very simple but at times it won’t be possible due to some glitches. It’s one of the setbacks which the tool has but luckily it’s not something that can’t be worked on.

The Glue Engine game engine is a great idea and so far it’s on the right track to becoming more than just a concept. It shows promise. Momentarily, it’s a rather basic tool that won’t allow the game development newbie to do a whole lot, and for the advanced user it might come short.

On a closing note, Glue Engine has the potential of becoming a really good product. It offers a user-friendly environment with easy to use tools and a wide range of features but it needs a lot more work before you’ll see indie games developed in it.
