Heroes of Dire looks very well considering how lightweight it is overall, although admittedly, the more you play the game, the more you come to realize where exactly they managed to cut corners to safe filesize. As far as graphics are concerned, the game looks very good, enough even for it to merit individual character customization, which you can perform at any time you want.

As stated, Heroes of Dire boasts TBS-style combat, similar to the Heroes series, although with an even more tendency towards relying on tactics rather than raw damage. It is not enough to attack the enemy, but the position you are in when attacking him could mean you will do more or less damage.

You'll eventually gather more and more followers into your group, and they will fight your battles for you. They all can serve a different purpose, from ranged attacks to mages and healers, and judicious use of their skills will allow you to overcome otherwise impossible tasks. As for the game world, this is one area of the game where MMORPG and chess meet somewhere down the middle to create the perfect blend. Your avatar will be displayed as a peon which you will navigate through a world where elements are revealed to you only as you approach them, thus ensuring the game never has to handle an entire game world and making it easier on low-tier devices.

After every battle, you will get a debriefing showing you how much experience your units have earned, and what loot have you managed to scavenge. Each member of your squad can be managed individually, from the equipment they use to the way they look.
