Dota Underlords

There is no doubt that Dota 2 is probably one of the most well-known MOBA games out there, and probably one of the most recognizable games in the whole world, and fro good reason. While the gameplay may seem very familiar by now, the unique roster of characters, the items, and the fact that it preserves the spirit of the original Dota is probably behind the popularity. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise that developers thought it would be a good idea to make a spin-off game set in the same universe, named Dota Underlords.

Those of you that love Dota 2 for the sake of the lore and the nostalgia should rejoice knowing that their favorite heroes will be present here as well. Each hero is designed to belong to two different classes/races, and having multiple units that belong to the same category will give them a synergistic bonus that will greatly increase their efficiency. Down to the very basics, the game is a TBS game where the units you set on the board are none other that the heroes of Dota, but the way you place them is similar to how you draw cards in a CCG.

The problem is that you can't place whatever hero you want, since you have to choose between the heroes that will be made available at any given turn. More so, you also have to make sure you have enough gold to hire them, since not having the money to hire a potential game breaker is indeed a shame. Of course, after you place the heroes on board and itemize them, the computer takes it from there, as the combat is purely AI-controlled, and where you placed your units has little to no effect as far as target priority goes.

Dota Underlords is indeed a surprise for the gaming community, and it does manage to revitalize the public's interest in Dota 2, and it may even manage to make a name for itself as a AAA TBS game.
