Heldric - The Legend of the Shoemaker is a game that aims to bring the best of both tower defense and hack-n-slash titles under one roof. The main goal here is to help our knight wannabe hero to defend his village from the incoming enemy threats.

The game puts you in the shoes of Heldric, a common man who had always dreamed of becoming a knight under his king's command. While his dreams have been shattered when the king refused to choose him for knight training, our ambitions hero worked very hard and became a respected and one of the best shoemakers in the land.

One day, a terrible enemy force started to attack the lands and the king along with his trusted knights had to flee in front of this immense terror. Making use of his years of training, Heldric swore to protect the villagers and put an end to the enemy's terrible campaign that ravaged most of the land.

Heldric - The Legend of the Shoemaker is basically a hack-n-slash game that manages to blend in a few tower defense mechanics that will make you plan your approach carefully if you want to defeat the incoming waves of enemies.

To stand a chance against the devastating force of the orcs, you will have to upgrade your village, construct new buildings and equip the villagers with weapons to help them protect themselves.

Even if it sounds easy at first, choosing which buildings to construct might have a crucial importance in the outcome of each battle, as you only have a limited amount of plots to build.

Each building also provides a unique bonus that might be the key to win in some of the toughest fights. Randomized villagers and monsters also add up to the challenge, as no playthrough will feel the same even if you play a mission more than once.

Heldric - The Legend of the Shoemaker brings an interesting concept to the table, and, although it's not an entirely new one, it manages to keep the player interested as he must juggle with limited resources and plot spaces.

Unfortunately, there are a few aspects that developer Astral Byte should consider improving if it wants to attract even more players into this war torn world and these are mostly related to graphics polishing and improved animations.

If graphics don't play such an important role and you're just looking to have some fun building a solid defense and slashing your way through enemies, Heldric - The Legend of the Shoemaker will surely do the trick.
