Tower defense games revolve around your ability to come up with the best tower placement and combination in order to stop the enemies from advancing further. Along the way, you get rewarded with more and more money, which can be used to either upgrade the existing towers, or build new ones and take advantage of their increased power.
Circuit Defenders is a strategy game with a science-fiction theme that has you defending a computer from viruses, which aim to make their way to the mainframe through the circuits leading to it. In order to stop them, you have to use a variety of towers and place them along the circuits, as well as upgrade them using random power-ups that spawn every now and again.
As usually, you start off with a limited amount of cash and rather weak towers, although the enemies are not that power either, in the beginning. By surviving the waves and gathering more money, you can afford more advanced towers and make it more difficult for the enemies to advance. Naturally, it is of capital importance that you place the structures as effectively as possible, without wasting any space.
Although your units attack the foes automatically, you can also choose to manually aim their turret when you need to. While this is not very useful in normal circumstances, it comes in handy when power-ups appear somewhere on the map, since they are not automatically attacked by the turrets. Speaking of which, these bonuses offer you certain advantages, such as instant heal for every tower, upgrades to their range, as well as a powerful weapons that can kill every enemy on the map instantly.
There are some annoying aspects to the game as well, such as the fact that enemies can stumble into each other and get stuck, making it rather easy in some situations. It is also quite disappointing that most of the towers look the same, or are too small to make a difference. Hence, you barely get the satisfaction of advancing through the levels, other than the fact that you get to build more and more.
In the end, although Circuit Defenders suffers from some flaws, it can still captivate you for a few hours if you are not careful. However, the experience is rather short-lived, since there aren't too many reasons to enter the game again after you see the small collection of towers and enemies.
