Board Games have been the precursors of MMOs as they were the first form of entertainment in which a group of friends could join a fantasy world fight monsters. Of course, referring to board games in past tense does not mean they are dead, it's just that online games have pretty much taken over the role. Stash is a MMORPG that tries to blend the best elements of both online PC games, and traditional board games.
The game doesn't take itself too seriously in any way like other MMOs do. There is no story, no back conflict, no waring races of opposite factions. Just you, some randomly generated dungeons, and the occasional group of players you meet at a tavern to get a drink and strategize about your next quest together. In keeping with the overall care-free theme of the game, character customization is also pretty different from all other games. For example, you don't have the races that you see in other Intelectual Properties, such as elves and orcs. Instead, here you have humans, dryads, cat people, werewolves, and a rock-monster hybrid that stand 2-feet above all other races. However, classes still retain the same archetypes. In fact, they follow them to the letter, since you have a mage class, a warrior class, a scout and a healer class, and they all make up the perfect recipe for a good dungeon group.
Combat in stash is done in a TBS fashion; each participant gets their turn at traveling a certain distance and performing a certain action. Classes have their own various strengths and weaknesses, so joining in a mixed group can mean fast clear times for everyone. Positioning in combat can also offer bonuses or decrease in stats. for example, being surrounded (two or more adjacent enemies), or being pinned down (having no tiles to move to due to enemies and obstacles) result in decreased damage dealt
Once you've slain a foe, you get the chance to either receive equipment or reagents, which can be exploited using the game's extensive profession system. Characters are not limited at all to how many professions they can own, so you can pretty much become a jack-of-all-trades with one character.
Resting in between battles can be tedious, and you also need a safe haven to get it. Luckily, the game provides you with a base of operations, where you can rest, craft items and so much more. As you loot more and more dungeons, you will eventually receive items that help expand your base of operations (BOO), allowing more actions to be performed, as well as having a great aesthetic value to it.
There are no travel times, and dungeons can be completed in as little as 10 minutes, so getting the chance to play is achievable, even if you don't have too many times to spare. Combat is easy enough for anyone to understand, yet hard to master, so it pleases both beginners and veteran players, and the prospect of loot will surely attract many others to your party so that you can have a blast playing Stash together.
