My Little Blacksmith Shop

Quite a few jobs have become obsolete over the centuries, mainly because they dealt with things that are no longer required. Other jobs have evolved past recognition, as is the case with alchemists, who are no actual scientist working within the realm of possibility. Hence, it’s no wonder that there are barely any blacksmiths left out there, given the fact that robots have taken over this kind of work.

My Little Blacksmith Shop is a small project that allows you to play the role of a man who is trying to start his own blacksmith shop and satisfy his first customers. The game is far from complex at this point, given the fact that it’s not even finished, but it shows quite a bit of promise if you enjoy sandbox games with first-person perspectives and an emphasis on resource gathering.

As such, your first task is to find the necessary resources required to craft items. These items are not particularly interesting, on the other hand, since all you have to do is put various objects together in order to obtain various special items. Naturally, you can sell them to NPCs that visit your shop, although that might take some time.

As mentioned before, most of your time is spent searching for the resources, because it’s fairly complicated to run a shop with nothing in it. Unfortunately, the map is kind of disappointing in this regard, mainly because it is too small to encourage proper exploration. Hence, you are done looking everywhere in a matter of minutes, which hurts the game’s replay value.

The graphics are not bad at all, given the fact that the game runs on Unreal Engine 4. However, they are fairly low-poly and cartoony, so don’t expect exquisite textures or gorgeous lighting effects. Even so, there’s definitely potential here if the developer keeps working on it and expands the map sometime in the future.

My Little Blacksmith Shop is not quite there yet, but it has potential, that’s for sure. Hence, if the map is improved and more options are added in the future, this could easily become a fan favorite by the time the full version is released.
