Aug 19, 2019
  • Limited Time Mode – Solos:
  • We are finally dipping our toes into the Solo waters. We’re going to put it out there and see what happens. Too early to say if this will become permanent or not – healthy matchmaking across all modes is priority. Give it a shot and let us know what you think.
  • Octane Town Takeover:
  • New Town on Kings Canyon
  • Double XP for Top 5 & Wins Weekend:
  • From 10am PST on August 16th through 10am PST on August 19th players will earn double XP for Top 5’s and Wins all weekend long. This bonus will affect both Account Level and Battle Pass progression.
  • A special Collection Event Apex Pack and Iron Crown Event Store:
  • Available for a limited time!
  • With Bloodhound Heirloom Set Preview!:
  • Exclusive event challenges with free loot.:
  • Complete a variety of challenges to earn two Iron Crown Collection packs, exclusive Iron Crown event badges, and event currency (Crowns).
  • PATCH NOTES:
  • BUG FIXES:
  • Fixed issue where assigned challenges not resetting properly and giving rewards.
  • Fixed bug causing incorrect calculation of Kill/Death Ratio in player stats.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes a Care Package would clip into map geometry.
  • Fixed a bug that was sometimes showing Apex Predator ranked players RP as zero when viewing the badge in the Lobby.
  • Fixed issue with players having connection issues when trying to join a squad that has already played a match.
  • Fixed issue where Daily and Weekly Challenges would reset earlier than communicated in the game.
  • [Xbox Only] Fixed bug where players would sometimes not receive “The Player” achievement when hitting level 50.
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes Arc Stars would attach to players and some objects at a distance and appear to float off of them.
  • Fixed bug where sometimes Arc Stars would not explode or do no damage when it detonates.
  • Fixed issue with players sometimes unable to unlock the “Double Duty” Badge.
  • Fixed bug where sometimes using a healing item while experiencing bad ping would cause them to heal for twice as much.
  • QUALITY OF LIFE:
  • Added a Death Recap to the end of match summary that will display a damage summary of your last battle.
  • Improved the UI during the Match Summary to better show Battle Pass progression.
  • Added In-game Survey:
  • While playing you may get a prompt that will pop up asking if you enjoyed the last match. This data will be helpful to us so please provide your input when you see it.
  • Added option to spectate your squadmates after dying.
  • Added option to “Invite Squad” in the Squad Tab.
  • Players should no longer lose RP when experiencing a server crash or disconnect in Ranked Mode.
  • Fixed issue where squadmates could not ping a friendly Wraith portal.
  • Fixed issue where players could pull other players out of a match by joining them, and then joining another friend from the Lobby.
  • Fixed issue where sometimes a player would get left behind from their squad in the Lobby after they enter a match.
  • Fixed issue where players would sometimes get a “Party Not Ready” error message even though they were no longer in a party.
  • Fixes that should improve overall game stability to reduce crashes.
  • WEAPON BALANCE:
  • Disruptor Rounds with Alternator:
  • Reduced Shielded damage multiplier 1.7 -> 1.55.
  • Designer Notes: Disruptor rounds on the alternator are shredding shields a bit too quickly and still proving to be stronger than intended, so we’re reducing the disruptor rounds multiplier on shield damage.
  • RE-45:
  • Increased Magazine Size for all tiers to the following:
  • Base: 16
  • Common: 19
  • Rare: 22
  • Epic: 25
  • Designer Notes: We’re giving the RE-45 a small boost in power by giving it one more round for every mag size. Downing a non-fortified enemy with the RE-45 with 0, 50, 75, and 100 shields requires 10, 14, 16, and 19 shots respectively, so this extra round gives the gun the ability to one-mag more armored enemies instead of leaving them barely alive.
  • R-301:
  • Increased vertical and horizontal recoil. Slightly increased recoil pattern randomness.
  • Designer Notes: We’ve made these changes as we’ve seen that the R301 is a bit stronger than intended at long range. We’ve adjusted recoil to balance keeping it effective at medium to close range–which is the original intent–but it should be more difficult for players to auto fire and still laser enemies at long distances.
  • LEGENDS:
  • General:
  • Made adjustments to Pathfinder’s and Low-Profile Legends hitboxes.
  • Taking shots to the hip now does torso damage instead of leg damage. This should more closely match the behavior of the other Legends.
  • Fixed a bug where activating a healing item would cancel the Ultimate for Legends that need to prime it [Bangalore / Pathfinder / Caustic / Gibraltar / Bloodhound]
  • Fixed an exploit where players would sometimes be able to still shoot while downed.
  • Bloodhound:
  • Increased the distance that Bloodhound can see traversal clues left by other players [but not other kinds of clues] to 25 meters.
  • Adjusted the area of effect for Bloodhound’s Tactical to 125 fov.
  • Wraith:
  • Based on player feedback, we’ve reduced the “hum” audio that’s playing while using Wraith’s Kunai.
  • Fixed issue where actions for Wrath would have a slight delay when her weapon is holstered and crouching or sliding while the kunai is equipped.
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed players to remove the cooldown for Wraith’s Tactical Ability.
  • Mirage:
  • Fixed bug where Mirage was able to stay invisible and still be able to shoot and melee when using his Ultimate on a zipline.
  • Octane:
  • Fixed bug where sometimes Octane’s Jump Pad would not launch the player.

  • RANKED LEAGUES:
  • Check out the full details on our goals, how Ranked Mode works, and more here.
  • One thing we forgot to mention in the blog post: Players abandoning in Ranked will be penalized both with a matchmaking penalty, as well as have any potential RP gains zeroed out. On top of that, they will pay an additional penalty RP cost equal to their match entry cost. For example: if a Gold player gets 4 kills and would have finished top 5 but abandons his or her match on purpose, that player will get 0 RP for kills and placement, pay the 2 RP entry cost, and on top of that pay another 2 RP abandon penalty cost.

  • STATS PAGE:

  • We’re sure you all will have feedback on other stats you’d like to see here. What we’re shipping with Season 2 is just the start and we’re planning to build on it. We won’t promise anything but definitely let us know what other stats you want shown after you’ve played around with it.
  • KNOWN ISSUES: There will be some stats [like assists for example] that will start counting for Season 2 but won’t account for progress before that. This is because until we added the feature, this stuff wasn’t being counted. We’re looking at future improvements to retroactively update these areas that we hope to address down the road.
  • THE RING:

New in Apex Legends 20.06.2019 (Jun 21, 2019)

  • Developers have a client patch for PC only that is going live this morning to address a few issues:
  • Datacenter improvements to make the list easier to understand and use:
  • List will be sorted by ping by default.
  • The selected data center will be highlighted in orange.
  • Focused/hovered data centers will still be highlighted in grey.
  • Right clicking a data center will no longer make it look selected
  • Right click wouldn’t actually select the data center but would still highlight the selection which could be confusing.
  • Clients will now send user input to the server at a higher rate.
  • Code: Leaf error
  • There is still some work to do on our end to nail down what is causing this error. In this patch we’re adding more telemetry to help us identify specifically how this error is being caused. You may start to get a code:net error instead of code:leaf. That is intended and part of the telemetry we added. We’ll be continuing to investigate this issue and it remains a priority.
  • Why only PC? We want to test these changes before putting them out on all platforms. We’ll be continuing to monitor data and player feedback and if we’re seeing improvement with these changes we’ll roll them out for PS4 and Xbox at the launch of Season 2.
  • Season 2 Weapon Update:
  • Hey everyone! I’m Sean Slayback, the principal weapons designer on Apex Legends at Respawn. The weapons team and I are excited to share some info about weapons in Season 2, so let’s get into it!
  • New Weapon: The L-STAR Arrives:
  • This season we’re introducing the L-STAR, a rare and powerful LMG. This weapon fires large, high-damage plasma projectiles at a fast cyclic rate. The L-STAR is joining the Mastiff and Kraber in airdrop packages, and quite frankly, it’s a beast.
  • The L-STAR’s unique projectiles are much larger than those fired by other weapons in Apex. Players need to lead targets more at range to compensate for the L-STAR’s slower projectiles, but on the flip side, they don’t have to aim quite as precisely to get good effect on target.
  • All this plasma-fueled power comes at a price: the L-STAR will overheat if players hold the trigger down too long. When the L-STAR overheats, its lens breaks and needs to be replaced, which takes some time. Expert players learn to feather the trigger with short/medium bursts, taking short breaks to let the weapon cool down.
  • The L-STAR only spawns in airdrops (like the Mastiff and the Kraber), and comes with a limited ammo supply that can’t be refilled.
  • Get out there, hunt some airdrops, and let us know what you think of our newest high-tech addition to the Armory.
  • New Hop-Ups!:
  • This season, we wanted to bring up the low end of the power curve a little, increase situational viability for lesser-used weapons, and create more interplay between weapons. So, we created a couple of new hop-ups:
  • Disruptor Rounds:
  • Increased shielded damage.
  • Compatibility: Alternator, RE-45
  • Hammerpoint Rounds
  • Increased unshielded damage.
  • Compatibility: P2020, Mozambique
  • Ideally players will consider one of these hopped-up small arms for weapon-swap tactics, and sometimes carry them unironically into endgame situations.
  • New Attachments: Energy Mags:
  • Energy Mag attachments have been added for the Havoc, Devotion, and Triple Take, adding more loot gameplay and power curve depth. Like the other magazine attachments, Energy Mags increase ammo capacity (at all levels) and reduce reload time (at level 2 and above).
  • Power Up:
  • We buffed some less-popular weapons to make them more powerful within their designed roles. Look out for buffs to the Flatline, P2020, Alternator, and Triple Take, with specific details outlined in our S2 patch notes.
  • Arc Star: Spikes & Sticks:
  • Since launch, the Arc Star has seemed “spikey” to us. (To us, this means that the gameplay and personality are good, but it can sometimes feel unfair to use or fight against.) We did a few targeted tweaks:
  • Increased ignition delay from 2.5 to 2.8
  • Sticking a full health player will now down them
  • Players at the edge of the explosion no longer get their shields completely shredded
  • Gold Weapons:
  • Players can look forward to finding a totally new set of gold weapons in Kings Canyon for the start of season 2. Look out for the final list in the Season 2 patch notes.
  • Ammo Stack Sizes:
  • Apex players need to strike a fine balance between loading their backpacks with ammo, and holding other items for emergency or utility purposes. In a couple cases, we felt the stack sizes weren’t well-balanced, so we tweaked:
  • Shotgun max stack reduced from 64 to 16. Players now need multiple stacks of ammo to run a shotty.
  • Energy max stack increased from 60 to 80 – now matches Light/ Heavy ammo.
  • Airdrop Weapons
  • Airdrop packages now use different loot tables for different phases of the game (early/ mid/ late). For example, players will find more Krabers in early and mid-game airdrops, while endgame airdrops should spawn more Mastiffs.
  • And, of course, these loot tables now include the L-STAR plasma LMG!
  • Season 2 Starts July 2!:
  • Beyond the changes mentioned here, the weapon team still has a few tweaks up our sleeves for Season 2, so look out for our patch notes when the season starts on July 2!
  • And as always, from the entire Apex Legends team, thanks for playing.

New in Apex Legends 1.2 - Keybinds Fix (Jun 17, 2019)

  • Players that don’t have the patch trying to join those that do may result in game crash. If you are experiencing crashes while trying to join a friend, this should be resolved in the next few hours as the patch is propagated. Please make sure that you have restarted and updated the client as you’ll get stuck in matchmaking if you try to play without the update.
  • This patch also fixed the bug with healing items not functioning when using the keybinds for them.
  • The following config commands are now enabled:
  • fps_max
  • mat_letterbox_aspect_goal
  • mat_letterbox_aspect_threshold
  • Fixed issue with players not being rewarded with Loss Forgiveness after their teammate left during an Apex Elite match.
  • Also made improvements so that Loss Forgiveness works more consistently in other cases where it wasn’t working correctly.
  • Fixed bug where Caustic’s Nox Gas Traps would damage players through walls.
  • Fixed exploit where you could repeatedly place Caustic’s Nox Gas Traps with no cooldown.
  • [PS4 Only] Fixed bug with in-game reward message not displaying the right image for Playstation Plus subscribers [previously this was showing an orange and purple checker image instead of the right asset].

  • Fixed issues with items sorting incorrectly when looting a deathbox.

  • We are working on a server side patch for these ASAP.
  • Playstation sign in bug for new players

  • The Pit has about 2x the loot in it
  • Repulsor has loot bins added to the west side of the area, on top of the trapezoid buildings.

  • Added colorblind support for threat vision scope and Bloodhound’s Ultimate.
  • Removed the ability for players to change game settings not intended to be modified on a client level. Our intent is to prevent exploits like removing muzzle flash, disabling lighting, and other changes that give players an unfair competitive advantage.

New in Apex Legends 1.1.3 (May 22, 2019)

  • Apex Legends developers working hard. Now, they are planning to optimize more! Here are the details about the upcoming patch;
  • AUDIO FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
  • One of our biggest issues to tackle was improving the audio performance to address issues reported of sounds dropping out, sounds missing for extended time, or distortion for a period of time. We have made improvements both in our code and with our content that will hopefully fix these issues for many players, and for others, at least lower the amount and length of time they encounter audio issues.
  • We have also addressed some of the other mix issues with the game, including increasing the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps and lowering the overall volume of the game from the character select screen to the end of the drop sequence. We will continue to monitor mix issues and address them as necessary. Below are the notes of improvements we’ve included in today’s patch and we’re continuing to work on future improvements.
  • PERFORMANCE:
  • Improved audio engine to be around 30% more CPU efficient, lessening the chance of distortion or dropouts.
  • Lowered impact on data loading through code and content changes to improve potential dropout issues.
  • QUALITY OF LIFE:
  • Lowered the master volume of all sounds during the character select screen through the end of the drop sequence.
  • Lowered the volume of Wraith’s ambient kunai knife sound for those who are sensitive to the sound. If it is still bothersome we will remove it in a later patch.
  • Increased the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps for all Legends.
  • Increased the priority of enemy footsteps to ensure the sounds play even in heavy combat situations.
  • Slightly lowered the volume of Pathfinder footstep sounds heard from the first person view.
  • Fixed missing or quiet dryfire (out of ammo trigger click sound) and low ammo (the progressive change in sound that the gun makes as the magazine approaches empty) sounds for the R301, Hemlok, Flatline and RE45.
  • Increased the volume of the music that plays when winning a match.
  • Added more detailed audio to the Training mission.
  • BUG FIXES:
  • Fixed occlusion bug for the “wind down” sound for the Havoc.
  • Fixed issue with automatic weapon fire sounds occasionally getting stuck on, usually after a Legend respawns.
  • Fixed bug with RE45 missing tail sounds (the echo in the environment after the shot) when in close proximity.
  • HIT DETECTION FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
  • In this patch we’ve pushed some fixes that should eliminate many cases of incorrect hit registration. This patch also includes some behind-the-scenes tracking of bullet damage logic. We expect there will still be some remaining hit registration problems, but with these fixes and diagnostic information, we are better equipped to track them down.
  • One potential cause of hit registration bugs can be simple internet connection problems. In order to determine how much of a factor this is in reality, we have put some time into refining the functionality behind our network problem indicator icons in the upper right of the screen. These icons are now pickier about your connection quality and may show up more frequently than they did before. These icon changes will be useful for us in narrowing down the cause of any bugs that we continue to see. Please continue to share videos and report hit registration issues you still encounter after the patch.
  • FIX FOR LIFELINE “PICK ME UP” BANNER BUG ON PS4:
  • The issue has been resolved and we will be re-enabling the banner after the patch is live.
  • NOTE: We made changes to client and backend to address this and it’ll take a little time to take full effect. We’re expecting the error to resolve within a few hours after the patch is live.
  • [PC ONLY] CRASHES SPECIFIC TO INTEL CPUs:
  • We investigated the crash reports from many people who were crashing frequently and found that Intel CPUs sometimes were not executing the instructions properly in one particular function. A common example was an instruction that only reads a register crashed on writing to invalid memory. With the help of many forum users, we found that lowering the clock speed always fixed the crashes, even if the CPU wasn’t overclocked or overheating. Thanks everyone, with a big shout out to Falkentyne, TEZZ0FIN0, JorPorCorTTV and MrDakk!
  • This has been by far the most commonly reported PC crash over the last month or so and we’ve notified Intel about the issue. In the meantime, we’ve put a workaround in this patch to avoid the crashing at your original clock speeds just by changing the instructions used by that one function. Please continue to send your crash logs to our forums so we can analyze and fix any issues you encounter!
  • ADDITIONAL BUG FIXES AND CHANGES:
  • Fixed issue with the Fortified Passive ability for Gibraltar and Caustic where they would take damage through shields.
  • Fixed the bug that allowed players to stick objects to Gibraltar’s Gun Shield.
  • Admittedly it’s been fun to see the results of this but the behavior is not intended by design and could get out of control. Items will no longer stick to Gibraltar’s Gun Shield, however, it will now deflect Arc Stars.
  • We have identified some issues with -novid, and will be disabling the flag until we can address the issues. Thank you for your patience

New in Apex Legends 1.1.1 (Apr 25, 2019)

  • LEGEND BALANCING:
  • At the start of Season 1, we previously talked about how our beloved Thicc Bois (Pathfinder, Gibraltar and Caustic) were getting crushed due to their hitbox size compared to other Legends. We first wanted to try adjusting hitboxes to better fit the model. For Pathfinder, this change worked very well. (Note: separately, we are actively investigating and working on fixing unrelated hit registration issues sometimes affecting all characters). However, after looking at the data and player feedback, Gibraltar and Caustic only improved slightly with the hitbox adjustments.
  • We don’t believe that hit box and character kit tuning is sufficient to bring Gibraltar and Caustic in line with their smaller competitors. Starting with Patch 1.1.1, Gibraltar and Caustic will get a new perk added to their passive – Fortified**, which reduces damage taken by 10%.** Over the week or two following this change, we will be watching how they perform with this additional protection and aggressively tune it if they are still underpowered relative to their size. Our goal is to ensure both Legends are viable picks by the end of this process.
  • Additionally, we’re also making a few quality of life kit adjustments to ensure their marquee abilities are a more impactful part of their individual playstyles.
  • CAUSTIC:
  • Fortified Passive Perk added: reduces damage taken by 10%
  • Gas Damage per tick increased: 1 -> 4
  • Ultimate Throw distance increased: 28 meters -> 33 meters
  • GIBRALTAR:
  • Fortified Passive Perk added: reduces damage taken by 10%
  • Gun Shield health increased: 50 -> 75
  • WEAPON BALANCING:
  • On the weapons side of the equation, we’ve made a number of changes to try to improve the power of long range gameplay. We’re reducing leg shot damage reductions on sniper category weapons, so you’re not punished for landing inaccurate shots at long distances. Given the semi-auto and low damage nature of our current sniper suite, coupled with the general speed and evasiveness of many Legend kits, it already takes several challenging shots to down someone at range. Because of this difficult sniper environment, we’re also reducing general sniper weapon sway and hitting the DMR with a few targeted buffs to make it more viable to engage Legends at range.
  • Separately from the sniper category, we are nerfing the Spitfire a bit, but our goal is to still keep it strong, as it’s a rarer spawning weapon. The Wingman is receiving a few magazine size nerfs, so that it doesn’t dominate the stock gun vs. stock gun battle early on due to its super high damage per bullet. Lastly, the Havoc is getting some general ammo and charge beam buffs to bring it in line as a viable energy ammo AR that competes with the R-301 and Flatine/Hemlok. The end goal is that the Havoc pressures a player’s ability to find Energy ammo, but is less dependent on finding attachments, whereas the R-301 and Flatline/Hemlok have less ammo pressure, but a higher reliance on finding more attachments to achieve power.
  • G7 SCOUT / TRIPLE TAKE / LONGBOW DMR:
  • Lowered leg shot damage reduction: 25% -> 10%
  • Reduced base weapon sway by about 33%
  • Reduced base sway speed by about 25%
  • LONGBOW DMR:
  • Increased fire rate 1.2 -> 1.6
  • Increased magazine size
  • Base mag increased: 5 -> 6 rounds
  • Common mag extender increased: 6 -> 8 rounds
  • Rare mag extender increased: 8 -> 10 rounds
  • Epic mag extender increased: 10 -> 12 rounds
  • HAVOC:
  • Increased base magazine size: 25 -> 32 rounds
  • Charge Beam:
  • Reduced cost per shot: 5 -> 4
  • Increased close range damage: 55 -> 60
  • Increased damage at range: 45 -> 50
  • Close range damage falloff increased: 35m -> 75m
  • Ranged damage falloff increased: 75m -> 125m
  • WINGMAN:
  • Reduced magazine size
  • Base mag reduced: 6 -> 4 rounds
  • Common mag extender reduced: 8 -> 6 rounds
  • Rare mag extender reduced: 9 -> 8 rounds
  • Epic mag extender reduced: 12 -> 10 rounds
  • SPITFIRE:
  • Reduced base damage: 20 -> 18
  • Magazine extender attachments reduced
  • Common mag extender reduced: 45 -> 40 rounds
  • Rare mag extender reduced: 55 -> 45 rounds
  • Epic mag extender reduced: 60 -> 55 rounds
  • ADJUSTMENTS TO GOLD WEAPON ATTACHMENTS:
  • Gold Havoc
  • Now has Turbocharger
  • Now has 1x-2x variable holo site
  • Gold R301
  • Now has 1x-2x variable holo site
  • Gold Wingman
  • Now has digital threat
  • BATTLE PASS XP BONUS EVENT:
  • In honor of Thicc-boi buffs, we’re going to be running a bonus Battle Pass XP event. From approximately 10AM PST 4/16 through approximately 10AM PST 4/18, your first Top 5 of the day (your squad places 5th or better in a match) will grant you 1 full bonus Battle Pass Level (29,500 BPP), up to a max of level 110. You can earn this once per day.
  • We’ll also be finding other moments during the season to add Battle Pass XP bonuses, so stay tuned!
  • ADDITIONAL CHANGES:
  • JUMP SHIP SPEED:
  • Increased the speed of the ship by about 50%
  • We felt that the ship was moving a bit too slow after watching player behavior so we’re speeding it up so players that like to drop later in the flight path don’t have to wait so long.
  • BUG FIXES:
  • Fixed UI bug where the wrong percentage would be displayed for all boost badges.

New in Apex Legends 04.04.2019 (Apr 5, 2019)

  • UPDATE:
  • 10:40am PST update: Until we have the issue resolved we recommend you do not buy or craft anything. We’re working to give you folks an ETA.
  • 2:00pm PST update: Fix is now live on all platforms.
  • WHAT HAPPENED?:
  • When the 1.1 update went live, players were unintentionally moved to the wrong servers that didn’t have their persistence and this caused players accounts to appear reset with all progression lost.
  • WHAT DID WE DO TO FIX IT?:
  • Fortunately, your progress up until the update was still safe and sound. We shut down all live servers so we could remove players from the wrong place and roll up the correct servers with your progress. Once we confirmed internally that we had fixed the issue we started rolling out the right servers starting with Xbox and staggered the updates to PS4 and PC.
  • WHAT ABOUT YOUR PROGRESS?:
  • Everything you’ve accomplished and bought in Apex up until the 1.1 Patch that went live at 10:00 PST today should be restored.
  • Any in-game purchases and progress acquired during the time between 1.1 going live and the fix will be reverted – levels earned, items unlocked, packs opened, and spent currency. If you continued to play and didn’t patch then this will not affect you.
  • Any currency purchased, spent or not, will be carried back over to their original account state. i.e. – if you bought $20 worth of coins, and spent $18, then you’ll will get $20 after the fix.
  • 1.1 Patch Notes:
  • Apex Legends developer aka Respawn Entertainment released the 1.1 Patch is rolling out as of 10:00am PST today and you will need to update the client to download.
  • KNOWN ISSUE: We are aware of the reports of accounts being reset after the update and looking into it now.
  • QUALITY OF LIFE:
  • Added the ability to party up with the last squad you played with. After the match you will see buttons in the lobby that display the last two people you played with and can invite them to your squad.
  • When you head back to the lobby after a match you will see two new buttons that show you the players in your last squad with the option to invite them for another match!
  • You can choose to allow invites or opt out in the Friends menu.
  • Additional behind-the-scenes improvements for squashing cheaters.
  • Added Mute button during the intro and Legend selection.
  • When using the Report Player button for PC, you now have the option of selecting Cheat or Other.
  • Made small improvements to the UI for customizing Legends.
  • Added option to turn off lighting on compatible hardware [for example, Razer Chroma devices] in the Mouse/Keyboard settings.
  • Added informative messages that appear on PC for crashes due to:
  • Running out of memory.
  • CPU errors best explained by overclocking/overheating.
  • Added better collision to the turrets on Supply Ships.
  • Stability fixes to all platforms.
  • BUG FIXES:
  • Fixed issue where the Battle Pass rewards page would not have a default item selected, resulting in a mostly blank page.
  • Fixed bug for PS4 and X1 where sometimes attempting to use a keyboard to chat could cause a fatal script error.
  • Fixed bug with Banner Cards not showing up during and at the end of a match.
  • JUMP PAD PHASE WALK INTERACTIONS
  • Octane’s Jump Pad no longer affects players when using Into the Void ability.

New in Apex Legends 27.03.2019 (Apr 1, 2019)

  • Hey all,:
  • Today, Respawn Entertainment wanted to check in and provide some info on some of the topics they’ve seen discussed this week that they can speak to:
  • LEGEND RESTING BONUS TO 50K XP THIS WEEK:
  • Remember, every week the resting bonus for Legends will increase by 25K. As of today the total resting bonus you can earn for each Legend is 50K. Next week will be 75K and so on and will cap at 250K.
  • FRAME RATE CAPPED TO 144 ON PC:
  • In the last patch we made an update with the intent to cap frames at 300 if players bypassed the default 144 frames per second. This introduced a bug that capped frames to 144 regardless if players uncapped it or not. In the next patch we’ll be fixing this so the cap is 300 as intended.
  • XBOX UPDATE YESTERDAY:
  • Xbox players should have noticed a small update that needed to be downloaded yesterday. This was address some stability issues on Xbox One.
  • LEGEND HITBOXES:
  • Thank you to everyone that’s been catching and reporting this. After investigating on our end, we were able to confirm that there is an issue regarding hitboxes around Legend arms and upper bodies. This was why you would see a shot appear to connect but not always register damage. We have made some small improvements server side but are still investigating other examples players are sharing and doing tests to repro and address. Please continue to report and share clips if you can.
  • AUDIO KNOWN ISSUES:
  • Issues we are aware of and currently looking into:
  • Audio dropouts, where sounds or parts of sounds in the game seem to be missing at times.
  • Audio distortion, where there is loud static or mangled-sounding audio that plays, generally during large gunfights and/or heavy concentrations of players.
  • Close enemy footsteps being too quiet, or silent, in some situations.
  • Some troubleshooting tips that could help improve your audio performance:
  • Hard drive performance is the biggest factor, so anything that can make your hard drive faster can help, including:
  • Defragging your PC HD prior to the game installation (but don’t defrag if you have an SSD!) .
  • If possible, we recommend using a fast HD to install the game onto, such as an SSD or a 7200 RPM HD.
  • It can potentially help to make sure that the hard drive is not being hit by other background processes, such as downloading other games or recording video to the same HD as the game.
  • Currently, the game does not support quad audio. If your game is currently set to that, please change it to stereo or another surround option, such as 5.1 or 7.1, if your setup supports that.
  • When you experience audio issues or bug, here is some info you can provide to help us identify the problem:
  • General system specs, including the particular console you are on (PS4, PS4 Pro, XB1, XB1S, XB1X) or the PC and hard drive used, if on PC.
  • Analysis of other things going on during the game at the time – was there generally poor performance from server lag, bad frame rate, etc.
  • Video if you happen to be able to capture it in a non-performance hindering way.
  • AN UPDATE ON CRASHES:
  • Last week we dropped a small patch for PC. This patch included a fix for the biggest offender causing crashing on PC that we were able to identify thanks to all the apex_crash reports players sent to us. Since then, we’ve seen the daily crash rate on PC drop by about 90%.
  • This has been promising to see but we know we’re not out of the woods yet. We’ve been investigating the remaining causes for crashing we’re seeing and planning to add better communication from the game with error messages and tips to help players troubleshoot issues in the event of a PC crash in a future update.

New in Apex Legends 3.0.0.J1624a - 04.03.2019 (Mar 12, 2019)

  • Apex Legends Devs (Respawn Entertainment) just released an update. Here are their words and details:
  • First off, we know you folks are fired up for info on Season 1 and Battle Pass. We still have work to do to get everything ready for prime time and won’t be talking about it yet. There are a lot of moving parts and coordination that go into big announcements and launches like this so please be patient. I know the wait sucks but it’s coming and ask that you all please be patient with us.
  • Over the course of this week we’ll be talking about a few hot topics and we’re kicking things off today with a patch that is live on all platforms with some fixes, our first tweaks to the meta, and we’ll give a preview of how we’ll be addressing Legend balance and hitboxes for Season 1. To talk about how we’re thinking about game balance and some changes we’ve made, I’d like introduce designers, Lee, Sean, and Brent who will give their POV and we’ll all stick around for a bit to answer questions.
  • I want to set the expectation that there will be lots of things we can’t talk about yet. We won’t be confirming or revealing any future content or features in the questions.
  • I’ll let the guys take it from here:
  • Leeeeeee-RSPN here with RespawnSean, Jayfresh_Respawn & Scriptacus to give a quick update on how we think about live balance at Respawn and the current state of live balance for Apex.
  • HOW WE THINK ABOUT LIVE BALANCE AT RESPAWN
  • We make less frequent, better tested, higher impact balance changes in order to minimize the impacts on your time spent mastering the game.
  • A core philosophy of our development process for Apex Legends is to listen to player feedback, parse through all the data we get from the game, try things, and then playtest them a ton to get them just right. And… repeat. The goal is to ship polished, closer to the mark updates than if we got things out rapidly and iterated in the live environment. We know y’all are putting a ton of time into the game and mastering every nuance (like Wraith portalling people off cliffs for the final kill lolz). Our goal is to make less frequent, better tested, higher impact changes, so it minimizes the effects on your time spent mastering a particular mechanic, weapon, character, etc. You shouldn’t have to read our patch notes every few days just to keep up with how characters and weapons now work.
  • The exception here is that we will be very quick to adjust things that are way out of balance (for example, if we released a new character that completely dominates the meta from Day 1, we’d address it ASAP).
  • We didn’t want to make any hasty changes around launch, because we know a ton of players are still learning the game with lots of new Legends dropping in everyday. The week one meta vs. the week two / three meta was meaningfully different from what we’ve seen, so want to make it sure it settles a bit before we act. For example, Mirage’s power level has dropped a bit as players have adapted to getting Bamboozled. 🙂 We want to let you know we’re constantly reviewing the state of the game and considering and testing a variety of changes.
  • With the above philosophy in mind, I wanted to give a quick update on where we stand with the current state of character and weapon balance and provide an early preview of the things we’re planning to do for Season 1.
  • WEAPON BALANCE:
  • Overall, we feel that the current weapons present solid options for a variety of gameplay styles. We’ve found that the Skullpiercer Wingman has been on the stronger end, but it’s designed to be a weapon with a higher skill ceiling. Our adjustments are attempting to move it more into the hand cannon space and away from full auto Deagle. We’ve also adjusted the rate of fire of the Peacekeeper with Shotgun Bolt attachment, so players will have a larger window of vulnerability if they miss their shot. Additionally, the scarcity of energy ammo and lower number of energy weapons overall has made those weapons difficult to main, so we’ve increased energy weapon and ammo availability.
  • WEAPON ADJUSTMENTS LIVE ON ALL PLATFORMS:
  • Wingman:
  • Rate of fire reduced from 3.1 -> 2.6 shots per second.
  • Skullpiercer Headshot damage multiplier reduced from 2.5 -> 2.25
  • Increased base hip fire spread and decreased the rate at which hip fire spread decays (shrinks back down).
  • Peacekeeper:
  • Shotgun Bolt rechamber rate has been reduced for the Peacekeeper only.
  • Level 1 mitigation 10% -> 7.5%
  • Level 2 mitigation 20% -> 13%
  • Level 3 mitigation 25% -> 16%
  • Wingman and Peacekeeper availability has been reduced in all zone tiers.
  • Increased availability of energy weapons & ammo in all zone tiers.
  • Why no P2020 or Mozambique buffs?
  • We love y’all’s ‘Bique memes, so we’re hesitant to lose that 😛
  • In all seriousness, our goal is to have a power curve of weapons. “Power curve” just means that some weapons will be weaker and more common, while others will be stronger and rarer. Some weapons are intentionally less powerful until fully purp’d with hopups and attachments, while other weapons on the bottom of the power curve are your early game, better-than-melee, but-gotta-upgrade-out-of-ASAP weapons. We’ve seen some good feedback from players about how to make these pistols more exciting without losing out on the goal above that we’re listening to. We’ll be continuing to watch player data and feedback and trying things out internally but for now, they’ll remain the same.
  • ADDITIONAL PATCH NOTES:
  • Fixed some script errors that we identified were occasionally causing disconnects during matches.
  • Caustic occasionally causing disconnects while throwing is Ultimate.
  • Pathfinder occasionally causing disconnects when activating a Survey Beacon.
  • Players occasionally causing disconnects when removing an attachment.
  • Gibraltar occasionally causing disconnects when pulling up his Gun Shield.
  • Players occasionally causing disconnects when entering Spectate Mode.
  • ADDRESSING LEGEND BALANCE AND HITBOX FEEDBACK:
  • Our goal is to be able to have characters with different rig sizes, hitboxes and ability kits, and still have each character be roughly equal in power level, win rate and viability of pick.
  • For character balance, we look at a combination of things: pick rate, win rate, and character v. character matchup win rate among other metrics, and, of course, player feedback. The results between the 5 small and medium rig characters have been positive – they are all in a safe band of relatively equal power. Our large rig characters, however, are underpowered and their natural size appears to be a large contributor. We’re planning on adjusting the size of the large character hitboxes to better fit the model. If these changes are insufficient to bring these characters in line, we’re also considering a range of other changes such as natural damage reduction as well as individual kit power tweaks. Because many of these changes are significant, we want to make sure they are heavily tested before they go live, in the event they are necessary. Below is a quick overview on the roadmap of how we’re thinking about bringing large characters back in line.
  • Overall, we want to try to increase the power level of the large rig characters, before we consider large nerfs to everyone else. While we’ve made small adjustments, we’re hopeful that increasing the power of large rigs is healthier than nerfing everyone else.
  • LEGEND ADJUSTMENTS WE’LL MAKE AT THE START OF SEASON 1:
  • Major balance changes:
  • Hit box size reductions and optimizations for Caustic, Pathfinder and Gibraltar
  • We’re better sizing hitboxes to character gear & model
  • Since these adjustments have a MAJOR impact on the game, we want to make sure there aren’t any major bugs, so we didn’t want to rush them out
  • If these adjustments prove to be insufficient, we’ll consider additional adjustments during Season 1
  • Minor balance changes:
  • Caustic:
  • Traps – Reduced cooldown to 25 seconds from 30 seconds
  • Traps – Increased radius and proximity radius by about 10%
  • Traps – Removed a 1 second delay on the smoke dealing damage to players
  • Pathfinder:
  • Insider Knowledge – Increased the number of beacons in the world to 12 from 10
  • Lifeline:
  • Care Package – Removed slight chance that level 4 armor and helmets will drop
  • Wraith:
  • Into The Void – Cooldown increased from 20 -> 25 seconds
  • Bangalore:
  • Double Time – Reduced move speed bonus to 30% from 40%
