Just like MOBA games were the hottest things in the early 2010s, so is the Battle-Royale trending now, and like all gaming trends, there are usually tens of titles coming out, but only a handful manage to make themselves noticed. One good example (if not currently the best) is Electronic Art's very own Apex Legends; a Sci-Fi themed Battle Royale where you duke it own together with 59 other players and see who is the apex predator.
Calling Apex Legends "beautiful" would be taking away a lot of the credit it deserves. The game looks incredible, with environments, movements, textures and light effects that make you think you are there. If you were just to sit around and not see anyone else, you might occasionally forget you're in a video game. Of course, with great graphics come greater system requirements, and this title is indeed quite resource-hungry if you plan on playing with all video settings at maximum. More so, it has some special settings that allow direct streaming of your matches, but they also contribute to the game's impact on your system performance, so if you plan on running it at 60 FPS, you should be ready to cough up some serious cash.
Apex Legends blends the common tropes that made skill-based shooters and battle-royale titles popular, allowing for a roster of different characters to fight against one another or work together to prove who's the best. Each character has their own appearance, backstory, but most importantly, a unique skill set, providing each of them with a different playstyle.
While the Battle Royale aspect of the game makes it so that any character has an equal shot at killing any character (guns are guns after all), using one's skills to their fullest means the difference between life and death in high-ELO matches. As such, the various skills that characters have make it so that they fall into one of several categories, such as offensive, defensive and support.
Like any other Battle-Royale title, you start off with no items and you have to scavenge the map for anything you can find, or equip whatever falls off of the enemy. It shouldn't be uncommon for you to die without even getting your hands on a weapon, so practice makes perfect. As the map closes in, the game will start spawning better and better gear in the form of dropships that leave supply crates. The catch is that these are always deployed out in the open and that everyone gets a heads-up on where the package will land, making these drop-off points hot-spots for skirmishes and kills.
Dying isn't fun, and the developers believe in a second chance, so they implemented a system where you don't die when you get shot, instead, you enter a state of incapacitation where your teammates can still revive you. More so, even if you do die, you leave behind a banner that can be collected, and if a teammate collects it and uses it at the various respawn point laying around, they can resurrect you.
It doesn't matter if you go in all guns blazing and make 30 kills in one match, or wait in the bushes waiting for the others to weed themselves out, you still get some rewards at the end of the match. These rewards and the XP is calculated based on multiple criteria, such as the game performance (K/D/A), damage done, as well as your squad's place in the top 20 teams. The rewards you get can eventually be used to buy in-game cosmetics, such as different character color schemes, new Legends that aren't available from the start, weapon skins etc.
If you're a fan of Battle Royales, skill-based shooters, thrilling games that don't drag on for too long, AAA graphics and so forth, then Apex Legends is a game you should try right away!
