Although it gets more difficult as you get older, you can always look at things through the eyes of a child, because sometimes it’s a lot easier to come up with interesting solutions to your problems. Hence, children rarely have a hard time using their imagination to transform a simple bedroom floor into a battlefield, or a park into a kingdom surrounded by powerful dragons.

Tiny Toyfare is a tower defense game that challenges your imagination and allows you to put your tactical thinking to the test at the same time. Hence, the goal is to protect your base from wave after wave of enemies, while building more towers and upgrading the ones you already have in order to deal more damage. It can get repetitive pretty quickly, but then again this is a short, free-to-play game.

As the name implies, the whole thing involves toys, and your role is to defend a few objectives using towers. These towers are actually stuffed animals, and the invaders are colorful dinosaurs that pose as the enemies. Naturally, this is because the game is designed to look like the playground of two siblings trying to have some fun with whatever they have lying around in their room.

The actual mechanics should be familiar to tower defense games, since there are no grand ideas in this regard. Hence, there are certain spots around the map where you can place the towers, and they come in multiple varieties. Once you start to destroy a few enemies, more resources become available, which in turn allows you to build more structures or upgrade the ones you already have.

Since everything is make-believe, the graphics are as colorful as the toys that make up the everything in the game. This helps a lot with the atmosphere, while also keeping things casual and enjoyable. The controls are pretty responsive too, although the interface could use a bit of work, because the text is rather intrusive and ugly sometimes.

In the end, Tiny Toyfare is not a revolutionary tower defense game, but it doesn’t aim to be one either. Thus, you are supposed to have fun with it and not complain about the lack of advanced tactical options.
