Call of War is a 4X strategy game in which you are given control over a nation during the second World War, with the ultimate goal being to become a superpower and bring the conflict to an end. However, things are more interesting in this case because you are part of the war with up to a hundred other players at the same time. Hence, your strategies must work against real humans, not computer-controlled bots.

There are many things to keep an eye on if you want to make it out of the war alive, including research, troop production and resources. Naturally, the battles are very important too, but that aspect is pretty dumbed down in the case of Call of War, so do not expect very complex battlefield maneuvers. Instead, it’s more important to make sure your country has all the resources it needs at all times.

As mentioned before, researching the right things is very important, especially if you want to stand a chance in the later stages of the game. You can focus on many different aspects, including economy, diplomacy and a few other things. Speaking of which, it is entirely possible to forge new alliances and create allies to protect you when things get tough. In fact, it can be very tough to survive on your own.

The units at your disposal are historically accurate for every nation, but as mentioned before, the game is not as complex as a proper wargame. Instead, you can pretty much drag-and-drop troops around the map when you are attacking or defending. In terms of graphics, the interface is pretty enjoyable, and the map is as simple as it gets too, which allows even slower systems to keep up with what’s happening on the screen.

Even if Call of War is not as complex as some fans might fancy, it still has the potential to keep you busy for a few hours. Granted, this is still a free-to-play title, so expect microtransactions and everything that comes with them, but there are no glaring imbalances.
