Hyne

Hyne is a lightweight piece of software that can simplify the life of Final Fantasy VIII players by a great deal. It’s an editor that allows you to work on the savegame files, in depth, with great ease.

As long as you know what Final Fantasy VIII is all about or you have a clue as to what you have in front of you while the app is open, Hyne will be a breeze to use. It’s comprised out of an intuitive GUI that has all the major features neatly organized and easy to access.

In a left panel you have a list with all the main editable content, such as Guardian forces, Characters, Shops, Triple Triad, Draw points, Battle, Field and a few more. Clicking one will bring out in the same main window the principal game parameters that can be edited or are worth editing.

For example, each summon-able creature can be edited when it comes to name, level, kills, HP and experience. Moreover, with a few clicks you can set the AP for any of their skills or max them up with a simple press of a button. The same applies for characters only you get much more to work with, like magics, junction and limit break.

There is a whole lot you can do with Hyne and all of it is at your discretion. It’s a decent hack tool so if you want to unlock the entire map, set up a custom party, configure sound or various details, you’re all set.

However, it’s equally important that you know what you’re modifying and how it affects the game. It’s quite easy to go overboard with some tinkering and you might end up with an OP character who will not encounter any real challenge in the game, this considerably reducing the fun factor.

To sum things up, if you’re looking for a Final Fantasy VIII editor that has pretty much every major aspect of the game covered, you can certainly try Hyne, just don’t overdo it.
