Risk Demo
Roll dice and try your luck at world domination with this simple recreation of the classic board game #Risk game #Strategy game #Turn-based strategy #Strategy #Dice #Conquer
There are a couple of board games that are common to almost every household, such as Monopoly, Yahtzee and a few others. Risk is one of these games as well, although it requires a bit more concentration and strategy. Dice have a lot to say in the final outcome too, but the players still need to have some sort of plan in order to avoid losing badly.
Risk is a recreation of the original board game, which means that it doesn’t stray very far from it in most aspects. The end goal and the basic rules are unchanged, so it is every player’s duty to conquer as many territories as possible and be the last one on the board. Dice are used to dictate the outcome of any confrontation, although the number of soldiers has a direct impact on the result as well.
To begin with, there are a couple of aspects you can customize before each match, besides choosing the number of computer opponents on the board. As such, it is possible to set up the card set value, which affects the sets you turn in whenever you have enough cards. You can also make things easier on yourself by enabling the Max Transfer function, which automatically moves the maximum number of troops after an attack.
There are three phases to each turn, namely Draft, where you can add soldiers to the map and reinforce positions, Attack, where you obviously get to take your chances against enemy troops, and Fortify, which allows you to move soldiers from one territory to the other. Cards can also be awarded every couple of turns, and they can be exchanged for points. The more territory you control, the more troops you are able to produce.
Technically, the game looks and feels friendly with everyone, regardless of any previous experience with computers. Everything is clearly explained and simple to understand, not to mention the fact that there’s a tutorial in place to teach you the basics. The graphics quality is quite pleasant, even if you are just looking at the world map and a few plastic soldiers.
When it’s all said and done, Risk should be as familiar and pleasant as the actual board game, given the fact that it’s the same thing. Hence, if you want to leave behind the cardboard and put your faith in computer-generated dice rolls, this is the way to go.
