Collect all the notes while listening to soothing music and use power-ups to speed up the process #Catch note #Music note #Music game #Music #Catch #Note
Music is an important part of everyone’s life, regardless of what genre you prefer or which artists you admire. Every culture on the planet practices some form of music, even if some of them only involve a few drums and rhythmic incantations. Hence, it’s only natural that music-themed video games are a thing as well, with the most obvious examples being Dance Dance Revolution and the Guitar Hero series.
Music Catch is by no means as complicated as the titles mentioned above, but it can be relaxing and fun to play. In essence, your job is to listen to the songs and try to collect as many notes as possible, in order to increase your score and get a place in the hall of fame. The notes are distributed randomly and not all of them are beneficial, but you still need good reflexes to catch as many of them as possible.
To begin with, there are multiple songs to choose from, most of which are taken from classical authors, or they are themes from other video games. Naturally, the complexity of the song influences the actual gameplay, although not by that much. Every time the melody gets a little more intense, more notes spawn from the side of the screen, providing you with additional chances to increase your score.
One of the most important gimmick in the game is the fact that not all notes are beneficial, and you can assess their potential through color. Hence, green notes are the most common of them and they only increase your score. Purple notes are power-ups, while yellow ones increase the size of your collector. However, red ones are bad, and they reduce your combo bonus by a lot if you happen to pick them up.
Unfortunately, things get boring in a rush after a while, because the gameplay never evolves. Thus, you are stuck doing the same thing over and over again, not to mention the fact that it’s not too much of a thrill anyway. The graphics are very basic and unimpressive, with the soundtrack being the only thing that could keep you entertained for longer than a few minutes.
When it’s all said and done, Music Catch could really evolve into something cool, if the developers added more content to their original idea. Otherwise, the game is just too barren and boring to keep anyone interested for too long.
