Call of Atlantis

Atlantis is one of the biggest mysteries of the antiquity, even if all the evidence suggests that it was actually made up to make a story more interesting. However, people are still searching for it at the bottom of every ocean, in the hopes of stumbling into the fascinating civilization that just vanished under the sea. Not only that, but it is rumored that there’s a lot of treasure to be had in the ruins, for some reason.

Call of Atlantis is a casual match three/hidden object game in which you have to travel across the Mediterranean and visit some of the greatest city of the antiquity, in the hopes of finding out where Atlantis actually is. Along the way, you get to experience a bit of culture from every civilization, including the Romans, the Greeks and the Egyptians. Don’t expect too much immersion, on the other hand, because this is still a simple match three game.

As such, your goal is to move gems around the board and try to match at least three of them in a row, in order to make them disappear and obtain the points. The actual mission is to get the artifacts stuck between the said gems, by clearing the space around them all the way to the bottom. The round ends when all the artifacts reach the bottom of the board.

In case you are familiar with match three games, this should come naturally to you, because there’s nothing different about it. When you manage to raise enough points, you can use a powerful amulet to clear some of the gems by detonating them, which clears the board a little bit. However, you have plenty of time to do it the old fashioned way, without worrying about the time limit.

In fact, each city you get to visit provides you with a plethora of stages, although they do not differ all that much. The hidden object sections are a tad more frustrating, because you usually have to spot tiny details, which puts a strain on your eyes. Thankfully, at least the graphics are nice, and the environments should be able to relax you.

Even if Call of Atlantis has its fair share of problems and inconveniences, the gameplay is pretty smooth most of the time. The levels gradually get more difficult and time consuming, which is exactly what you what in the genre.
