America is full of iconic cities and amazing landscapes, which is why a trip around the continent can be a lot of fun. In case it is not possible to reach America anytime soon, you can at least learn about it from books and video games.

Big City Adventure: San Francisco is a hidden object game that’s part of the entertaining Big City Adventure series. In essence, the game simulates a vacation and you get to be a part of it, this time in the wonderful city of San Francisco. Just like in every other title in the franchise, you are allowed to choose one of the family members as your alter-ego, including the dad, the son, the grandmother or the mother.

After a bit of an introduction, things go as usual for the hidden object genre. Hence, all you need to do is sit back and relax while you try to spot a collection of items in a picture. In case you want to make things more interesting, it is possible to play the missions with a time limit, which puts a bit of stress on you. Even so, the puzzles are not complicated enough to make you sweat too much.

In-between the hidden object sequences, the game tries to avoid repetition by challenging you to a variety of mini-games. Whether you have to solve actual jigsaw puzzles or play a round of match-three, the monotony of looking at the same image for long periods of time should wear off. These mini-games provide you with certain bonuses as well, at least if you manage to solve them.

As it is customary for the genre, the backgrounds are nothing more than pictures and cut out objects, which are placed on top of each other. This makes it difficult to tell one item from the other most of the time, which is exactly the purpose anyway. Thankfully, the overall visual quality is more than decent, although the soundtrack has a tendency to get repetitive after a while.

In the end, Big City Adventure: San Francisco even manages to teach you a few things along the way, in case you are interested in the history of San Francisco. Not only that, but the gameplay is simple enough for anyone to enjoy, as well as challenging enough to make it worthy of your time.
