Battle Rush - Tanks Demo

Tactical games do not necessarily have to be played slowly or in turns, since it can be much more difficult to come up with a strategy in real-time and have to put it in practice by yourself as well. Such games can also be quite frustrating, since you might not be able to realize your plans due to a handling mistake on your part, which is always annoying.

Battle Rush - Tanks is a fun and addictive arcade game that allows you to use a tank in order to protect your base from other tanks, while also taking advantage of the environment and picking up various power-ups to give you the upper hand. In case you are not aware it of it, the game is practically a slightly more modern redesign of the old classic Battle City, since it looks and plays the same, with a few minor differences.

You can play the game against the A.I. or another player, since the game supports hot seat multiplayer on the same keyboard. The goal is for you to defend your base against the enemy and destroy his base, although in the case of singleplayer matches against the A.I. there is only your base and you must obliterate all the enemy tanks in order to complete the level.

Just like in the original game, there are more kinds of enemy tanks out there, each one of which has a certain special ability. For example, some tanks are much more resilient to shells, which makes them harder to kill, while others are much faster and they require a bit of careful aiming before you are able to hit them accurately. There are some more variations, although you’ll get to know them quite well over the course of the many available levels. Unfortunately, they are not as smart as they should be and they certainly do not pose a threat most of the time.

You can get special abilities as well, by picking up certain power-ups that are dropped on the map every now and again. These range from additional armor for your tank, to speed and the reinforcement of your base with indestructible walls for a few seconds. Thanks to this gimmick, you can fight back with the superior A.I. tanks and defend your base more efficiently.

In the end, Battle Rush - Tanks is but a remake, so it doesn’t really get any points for originality. In fact, it barely added anything new, which is a bit unfair to the original game. However, the fact remains that you can have a lot of fun with it, even if you are not familiar with the old version.
