Ancient Taxi

The automobile is a relatively new invention, although horse-driven carriages have been around for quite some time now. Taxis, on the other hand, are definitely a commodity of the modern age, especially since they are everywhere and they can get you to the desired location in a very short time.

Ancient Taxi is a fun little arcade game that takes matters a bit further and allows you to drive a cab in the stone age, in order to transport prehistoric men and women from one cave to the other. Not only that, but your taxi is also a flying vehicle, which means that you can quickly go up and down the mountain in order to switch between caves in a fast and efficient manner.

The stone age is also the perfect excuse to include a few ridiculous obstacles and enemies, such as dinosaurs or belligerent vegetation. Thus, after a few casual trips and easy levels, things start to get more and more complicated. The fact that there's also a time limit makes the challenges even more intense, since you never know how many clients you've got left and whether the time is enough or not.

As far a the actual gameplay is concerned, the routine basically never changes from throughout the game, even if it might get a bit boring and repetitive after a while. Hence, you must pick-up the cavemen that spawn in front of the available caves and take them to the other caves. Each man tells you the number of the cave he wants to go to and you can easily find them, by looking for the corresponding digit next to the cave entrances.

Visually, there aren't too many things that can impress, especially since the game uses full 2D graphics and the animations are not very extensive. However, the colors are pretty bright and the environments look nicely drawn, especially toward the end, when the stages become a bit more intricate and there are many objects that must be picked up or avoided.

Ancient Taxi may not impress through depth, graphics or innovative gameplay mechanics, but it can be quite addictive, especially if you have nothing better to do. It is also a good game to keep you children occupied with, since it even comes with a special difficulty level dedicated to them.
