Build a base and train an army to defeat your enemies in this online strategy game #Strategy game #Online strategy #Massively multiplayer #Strategy #Tactic #Multiplayer
Online games are more popular now than ever, especially when you consider the fact that many of them are free. Naturally, barely anyone does something without expecting some kind of compensation in return, which is why most free-to-play games have microtransactions that allow you to spend money if you want to make progress faster than the other players.
Path of War is an online strategy game with simple gameplay mechanics and an even simpler progression system. In essence, your role is to build a mobile base and train an army as massive as possible, in order to make your way across the United States in an effort to reach Washington DC all the way on the other side of the continent. Naturally, the task is more difficult than it sounds.
To begin with, your base is the most important aspect, because that’s where you can also build facilities to train units. Each building has a certain purpose in the grand scheme of things, such as resource gathering or army production, and most of them can be upgraded a couple of times. On top of that, the base is also mobile, because it must make its way across the United States.
The combat is pretty straightforward as well, in the sense that all you have to do in order to attack is place the desired units on a lane and watch them to the work themselves. Granted, there are multiple lanes you have to keep an eye on, and sometimes it really makes a difference from a tactical point of view. Obviously, you can also attack other players and capture their resources, which is where the real fun is.
On the other hand, microtransactions might cause a bit of frustration, because although paying real money does not allow you to level up faster, it does enable you to purchase upgrades in the blink of an eye. Thus, players who have the means to do this are constantly above everyone else, even if they play against those of the same level.
In the end, Path of War is not at all a bad game, but it also doesn’t feature any incredible new mechanics, and the microtransactions might be a tad too annoying for some. Moreover, you can get bored after a while if you have to wait a few hours for an upgrade.
