Use vehicles and a variety of weapons to defeat the opposing side in this WWII-inspired first-person shooter #WWII FPS #Multiplayer FPS #Online shooter #Shooter #FPS #Multiplayer
Balance is an important thing in multiplayer games, regardless of whether we are talking about MOBAs, shooters or strategy games. When one class/faction has a clear advantage, it’s difficult for players to enjoy themselves if they are forced to play in a specific way to stand a chance. Granted, this is less of a problem in first-person shooters, because usually it’s your skill that’s the defining factor.
BattleRush is a multiplayer FPS game that integrates a few interesting gameplay elements meant to provide the players with the freedom to approach every round with a different mindset. Hence, instead of just shooting your foes as quickly as possible or stealing a flag to carry around the map, you have the option to craft various objects and build defenses in order to keep the enemies at bay.
The game is inspired by the WWII era, so it’s yet another conflict between the Allies and the Axis. This is also reflected in the arsenal at your disposal, the vehicles, as well as the maps on which you get to play. However, there’s a clear focus on teamplay and a bit of base management, because it’s important to use materials from around the map in order to build foxholes or various other structures that make your side of the map tougher to breach.
It’s also possible to equip your character with better gear as you manage to gain experience and unlock better weapons, not to mention the fact that there are all sorts of vehicles available as well. The game does feel a bit unpolished and arcadey in the gunplay department, on the other hand, so don’t expect too much realism, even if the theme is pretty serious.
As for the graphics, BattleRush uses Unreal Engine 4, but it’s not much of a looker most of the time, given the fact that the lighting is sketchy and the character models are pretty wacky as well. However, the cool thing is that almost everything on the map is destructible, including trees, buildings and everything else you can run over with a tank. This really helps with the atmosphere, especially when you manage to reduce the enemy base to rubble.
In the end, BattleRush is still in early access at the moment, so it’s only natural that it features bugs and gameplay issues. Hopefully, most of them are going to be resolved in future patches, but that depends on whether the community sticks with the game to be worth the effort.
