Atlas Reactor Online Client
Compete in visceral turn-based battles using a variety of characters with many skill combinations #Turn-based tactics #Multiplayer TBS #Multiplayer arena #Atlas #Turn-based #Multiplayer
Multiplayer arena battles are extremely popular nowadays, especially thanks to MOBAs like Dota or League of Legends. However, the genre is starting to get a lot more colorful and varied, which is because developers are straying from the classic formula. Thus, there are plenty of multiplayer games that borrow elements from Dota and LoL, yet they are very different, such as Overwatch.
Atlas Reactor is yet another flavor of MOBA, except that this one features a much more tactical approach to the subject. As such, everything takes place in turns, not to mention the fact that you play from a top-down perspective. On the other hand, the goal is more or less the same as in every other competitive game out there, which is for your team to come out victorious at the end of the match.
In order to do that, you must push your hero to the max and get the best out of his or her abilities. These abilities come in many possible combinations, which means that you can get a lot of variety out of a single champion if you have the patience to do so. Moreover, it also means that you rarely have to sit through similar matches, given the fact that everyone uses different abilities and skills during confrontations.
The Beta version comes with only a handful of game modes and mercenaries, which makes it a tad difficult to judge the full game. On the other hand, even this stripped down version can keep you entertained for a few hours, so it should be great to see what else is in store for the complete package. The simultaneous turn gimmick is flexible enough to allow for a lot of variety, as well as make each match unique.
As for the technical bits, the graphics are impressive, especially when you consider the fact that the game is not designed to be played from a first-person perspective or anything too close to the characters. However, you can zoom in and observe the attention to detail, which does wonders for the atmosphere and the game as a whole. The controls and the interface seem to be working well too, although you can do everything with your mouse anyway.
When it’s all said and done, Atlas Reactor has a real shot at the greatness of the rest of the game is as exciting as this free version. However, it needs to stay fun over long periods in order to keep its player base happy.
