Granted, people took this a lot more seriously in the past, which is why there are impressive structures out there designed to be in tune with the stars. Nowadays, astrology is mostly limited to daily predictions that tell you whether you should play the lottery or not.

Zodiac Griddlers is a casual puzzle game in which you have to recreate simple pixel images tile-by-tile, using a handful of colors and basic instructions. As the name implies, the theme of the game is astrology and the Zodiac signs, but since there are only twelve of them, you also get to tackle ordinary puzzles. In terms of gameplay, there’s nothing new under the Sun, so griddler fans should feel at home from the start.

The story does not follow a specific plot, but it evolves from level-to-level, so you get to travel to a few interesting locations along the way. You can also learn more about the Zodiac in general if you are interested in the subject, since there is plenty of interesting information to shuffle through. On the other hand, the puzzles rarely have any connection with each other.

Since all you need is a mouse in order to interact with the game, the mechanics are very simple as well. The numbers on the side tell you how many cells need to be filled, but you need some basic maths in order to avoid making mistakes. Although you are allowed a few errors, too many of them reset the whole puzzle, so you have to take it from the beginning. There’s a hint system in place to help you along, on the other hand.

Visually, the game is very pleasing, especially when it comes to the backgrounds and the special effects that come into play whenever you interact with the puzzles. The pixel artwork you recreate is pretty neat as well, even though sometimes the finished product does not really resemble the real thing. On top of all this, the spacey music is quite enjoyable too.

Zodiac Griddlers is far from original in terms of gameplay, but it can be tons of fun if you are only interested in the puzzles.
