A journalism graduate gets a job at a tabloid that concerns itself with supernatural events #Visual novel #Adventure game #Interactive story #Adventure #Novel #Fantasy
Finding a job after college is the logical step, since you spend four years preparing for it in the desired field. Everyone somehow expects you to already have some experience at this point, on the other hand, so the solution is to work as a volunteer for a while or find appropriate internships. Hence, life is rarely easy even for those who strive really hard to study and make a future for themselves.
Zodiac•Axis is a visual novel game in active development that allows you to play the role of a journalism student who finds herself working for a publication that deals with supernatural events. It’s not a very serious game, as you can probably already tell, but it has what it takes to keep engaged throughout the story if you are a fan of the genre and you do not mind staring at the screen most of the time.
The main character’s name is Alison Hart, and the only reason she applies for a job at the weird tabloid is because she couldn’t find anything else. As for the actual case you are given to investigate, it all revolves around six people who are said to be carrying something called the Spirits of the Zodiacs. Naturally, all of this is explained over the course of the story through dialog and colorful artwork.
No story is ever told without including a few additional characters, and there are plenty of them in Zodiac•Axis as well. Some are more interesting than the others, but they all have something to add to the overall experience, and you can approach most of them in order to start a relationship. Speaking of which, there are plenty of choices planned for the full game, but the demo lacks this feature, unfortunately, given the fact that it’s so short.
Lastly, the artwork is very important in a visual novel, because there’s no action to distract you from the visual component like in most games. Thankfully, everything is great in this regard, especially when it comes to the backgrounds and the characters. Even the soundtrack has a positive impact on the atmosphere, but more tracks are needed for the full version.
Zodiac•Axis might just be the kind of visual novel that excites your imagination, not to mention the fact that it should be highly replayable, given the many possible choices and romance possibilities. However, the project needs your help in order to be released, and you can offer your support by participating in the game’s Kickstarter campaign.
