Christmas is a pretty special time for almost everyone, mainly because it’s a time when everyone gets together with their family and friends. However, it can also be a pretty stressful time, given the fact that it’s a budget-demanding period and a lot of things have to be taken into consideration. On the other hand, you can focus on the good things and enjoy the food, beverages and good company.

Your Christmas Lie is a slow and simple visual novel in which you play the role of a girl by the name of Tati Davidson, who’s in a bit of a jam just a week before Christmas. The actual game is fairly simple, however, given the fact that all you have to do is click through the dialog and make the occasional choice every now and again to steer the story in the desired direction.

Tati is about to meet her step sister and spend Christmas in a very special place, but things do not go according to plan. In fact, she loses her belongings at the airport, which means that she has no money and no way to get to her destination. Thankfully, a helpful stranger offers to lend her a hand, and the story picks up from there.

The decisions you make affect the ending, but don’t expect anything too complex in this regard. The story can end one way or the other, but the differences are not great enough to really feel like the game is worth multiple playthroughs. Even so, the atmosphere is pretty cozy, and the experience is short enough to be fun even the second time around.

Lastly, the artwork is pretty nice, especially when it comes to the characters and their various poses. The backgrounds are a bit too simple and loaded with filters to be enjoyable sometimes, but this is not a huge problem. The soundtrack can get repetitive after awhile, mainly because it’s quite short, even if the story is very short as well.

All things considered, Your Christmas Lie is a pretty basic visual novel, but then again this is merely a demo at this point, so the full thing is certainly going to be a lot better. Moreover, a longer storyline would help as well.
