Karting is a pretty fun sport for young people, but it can also turn into a passion and evolve into something much more dangerous. Most F1 drivers start by training on a kart, mainly because the dynamics are similar in many regards. Hence, the simple joy of driving a mini-vehicle can lead one to become a professional racing driver, at least if you put enough effort into it.

YogsCart is not very serious, on the other hand, mainly because it doesn’t try to simulate reality in any way. Instead, this is a game meant to help you relax and have fun with your friends, using everything from pure skill, to luck and power-ups to gain the lead. The game features cartoony versions of the Yogscast members, in case you are familiar with them from their YouTube videos.

Gameplay-wise, everyone should be able to just pick it up and start playing right away, given the simple mechanics and lack of a real challenge. The speeds are quite low as well, which might actually bore you after enough time has passed. You can pick up boosts and gain a bit of speed every now and again, but not even that is exciting enough to put a strain on your reflexes.

There are crates all over the track that provide you with power-ups, although they are rather limited for now. You can only gain speed boosts and projectiles to fire at your opponents, but it’s enough to give you something to look forward to. This also makes the races more dynamic and volatile, because anyone can lose their spot in the blink of an eye because of a well-placed bomb.

In fact, there are many other traps and obstacles along the way as well. Tentacles rise from the ground in random places, pigs run aimlessly around the track, and there are rocks you can bump into if you are not careful. The karts slow down almost to a halt if you decide to leave the track and cut corners, which forces you to stay on course and play more or less fair.

In the end, YogsCart looks nice enough to make it appealing to casual crowds as well, while the controls are simple and very responsive. The multiplayer is where all the fun is at, because the AI in single player doesn’t put too much of a fight.
