Xoi San

Xoi San is a 2D platformer in which you take the role of a bushman set on quest to save a baby rhino from the hands of a group of ruthless poachers.

As you'll soon find out, the journey ahead is not easy at all since you're only a mere bushman armed with a spear while your enemies bear quite a lot of firepower.

Moreover, our hero doesn't know how to swim, so you will have to be careful and jump over the water streams if you don't want to drown.

We said that the bushman is definitely outnumbered and outgunned but, he still has an ability that the poachers aren't aware of: he can summon various animals to dispose of the enemies in his path.

The bushman is capable of summoning three types of animals: leopards, elephants and giant eagles, each coming to aid you depending on various scenarios.

For example, if an outpost blocks your path you can summon an elephant that will destroy it in an instant. Leopards on the other hand are great to take out entire groups of enemies that otherwise you wouldn't be able to get past.

The mother rhino will also come to help you in your quest, allowing you to ride on it while stomping enemies in her path. These sequences are a bit different and will require you to use the rhino's power to destroy rocks in front of you and jump over deadly spike traps.

Xoi San might not be a masterpiece but, the game manages to shine thanks to its beautifully drawn backgrounds and minimalistic character approach. Although it still needs more polishing, you should definitely give it a try.
