World Mosaics 8: Fiction Fixers
Travel through famous books in an attempt to stop a villain and solve tile-based puzzles #Mosaic puzzle #Solve puzzle #Book travel #Mosaic #Puzzle #Adventure
People have managed to create incredible worlds using their imagination, which is why there are so many enthralling books out there presenting alien worlds or fantasy realms. Although some of these worlds have been transposed into movies or video games, it’s still not the same as actually experiencing them, which is why most people are still hoping for a holodeck to come out sometime soon.
World Mosaics 8: Fiction Fixers is a mosaic puzzle game in which you have to arrange tiles in such a way as to fill only the right spots and leave everything else untouched. It’s not a difficult task per se, but it gets significantly harder to achieve once you severely limit the number of mistakes allowed. On top of that, the patterns get more intricate as you manage to solve each puzzle.
There’s even a story running its course in the background, which is meant to keep you focused on the action and provide you with some food for thought at the same time. Hence, it all starts when Victor Vile steals a couple of classic stories from the Hall of Fiction, which need to be recovered. Naturally, it’s up to you to visit these fictional worlds and stop the villain from achieving his plans.
The puzzles are solved by paying attention to the numbers near every row or column, because they tell you how many of the tiles need to be filled. Obviously, it’s up to you to figure out how to do this when the numbers are very small, but there’s always a way to solve them without having to guess or use power-ups. Speaking of which, there are a few special moves you can use to make your job easier.
As for the graphics, the visual style is pretty basic and simple, but the backgrounds change every couple of levels, as do the colors you have to work with. It’s not much, but at least there’s a bit of variety to help you avoid boredom. Other than that, everything remains pretty much the same from start to finish, except of course for the actual puzzles.
In the end, World Mosaics 8: Fiction Fixers is not the kind of game that leaves you in awe, but it has enough content to help you kill a lot of time when there’s nothing better to do. Some of the puzzles are quite challenging and enjoyable.
