Increase your vocabulary and solve world puzzles in this neat adventure game with anime artwork #Word game #Puzzle game #Adventure game #Word #Puzzle #Solve
Having a large vocabulary is useful in many cases, especially if you like to read or watch movies. It also comes in handy as you are trying to learn a new language, because it’s difficult to do so if you barely know your own native words to begin with. Thankfully, we now have many apps and games at our disposal to make the whole thing fun as well.
Wordlase is an interesting puzzle game in which the goal is to start from a given word and find as many other words using its letters. It sounds simple at first, but things get really tough when you have to find dozens of them, and doing so while the timer is running. Unfortunately, the game also has a few severe shortcomings that may ruin the fun for you in a matter of minutes.
There’s even a story running in the background to keep things entertaining, and you are always surrounded by cute anime girls as well, for some reason. As such, the English language is being studied in the future by historians, and they are trying to build a dictionary. Thus, your job is to lend a helping hand and make sure you get the most out of every word, which is easier said than done.
Since this is basically a game about dictionary and vocabulary, it’s annoying to find that many words are just not recognized by the game. Even simple words such as women or weak, which means that you are always stumbling onto terms that should get you points but instead are plainly rejected by the game. A lot more work is needed in this regard, otherwise the frustration can keep you from giving the game a chance.
The interface is a bit annoying as well, because there is no confirmation button to let the game know when you are done with a word. Instead, the word automatically pops once you get all the letters in the right order, so you often find yourself clicking in vain because the game has already registered a shorter word before you are done typing it.
In the end, Wordlase is definitely a neat idea, but the execution is very poor and disappointing. Thus, a larger dictionary is needed to begin with, and a better interface with smoother controls wouldn’t hurt either.
