Wooden Floor

Wooden Floor is a horror adventure game with puzzle elements where players will be playing in a first-person perspective. The game was created using the UDK engine.

You'll start the game without any story whatsoever. Get out of the bed and explore the room. A small tutorial is made available by sheets of paper left randomly on the tables. After learning how to move and how to pick up objects, it's off to explore the house.

Playing the game means a lot of exploring. There are just a few rooms when starting, but the discovery of a secret passage will send you on a journey where nothing is at it seems. Remember to close the doors behind you so you don't get confused.

The eerie feeling of the game is created using lights and sounds. The entire house uses candles in order to illuminate the hallways and the rooms so the diffuse shadow of objects can give quite a fright. The squeaking sounds of the wooden floor being stepped on amplify the horror feeling, while the random falling of paintings and books will drive shivers down the spine.

The Unreal Development Kit shows its age so the graphics, even if they look great, can still hold some glitches: pick up a book it can penetrate through every material. The sounds are really scary and imitate perfectly a person that's walking in an old, wooden floor house.

Even if the game features only a single-player mode, it has several floors that need investigating, so don't worry about the gameplay value. Even more, an hour spend in this game is equal to at least two in others, due to the intensity of the horror feeling created. In essence, if you're looking for a good scare seasoned with interesting puzzles, give this game a try.
