Wingdaria Destiny Demo
Witness the struggle between two lovers that come from different backgrounds in this thrilling visual novel #Visual novel #Role-playing game #Interactive story #Novel #Role-play #Fantasy
Visual novels are not meant to be complicated, since there is only so much you can say with a few images and a bit of text fractured into short and concise sentences. Although they are often compared to books, the truth is that they are to books what instant noodles are to real soup. However, that’s not to say that it’s impossible to tell a touching tale in the visual novel medium.
Wingdaria Destiny does not appear to aim too high in this regard either, because its story tackles a pretty washed out subject, and not in a very original manner either. As such, you play the role of a poor commoner boy by the name of Evan, who also happens to be blind, in order to score extra sympathy points. Naturally, he and the princess have a thing, but their relationship is obviously a blasphemy in the eyes of everyone else.
Princess Aria is also getting ready for an arranged marriage, which means that her friendship with Evan is about to be terminated entirely. Not only that, but Evan is at the royal castle only because Aria took him under her wing, which means that he’s about to go back on the streets once the marriage is official. It’s designed to sound very dramatic, but it’s also very difficult to relate to any of the characters, especially since each one of them is either completely good or completely evil.
Every once in awhile, the game presents you with a choice, which means that you can say or do one thing or the other. Depending on how you act or respond, the story’s ending differs as well. Thanks to this, you can replay the adventure multiple times and see how the plot evolves if you make other choices. On the other hand, the other characters remain the same, it’s only you that changes.
As far as the technical side is concerned, the game is quite good-looking, and it also features a few extras that are not normally seen in an indie production. Hence, the artwork is very detailed and suggestive, and so is the soundtrack. However, the greatest surprise is the fact that every character is fully voiced, which adds an extra layer of realism to the whole thing, albeit a very thin one.
In the end, Wingdaria Destiny is probably not the type of game that convinces you to become a visual novel fan if you’re not already one, but it should work its magic on those who are already mesmerized by the genre. In fact, it’s a pretty well-polished interactive story in almost every regard.
