Wild West Chase

Knowing how to use a gun was almost expected of people back in the day, especially since the police force was pretty small and not as well-equipped as nowadays. However, many tried to take advantage of that as well, which means that robberies were much more common, as were murder and various other violent acts. Probably the worst place to be back then was the Wild West, at least for a period.

Wild West Chase is a match three game with a Wild West theme in which you have to solve puzzles and even a few hidden object sequences along the way. The gameplay is not very original, on the other hand, so if you are familiar with other games in the genre, this should be fairly simple to figure out. Unfortunately, this also means that you might get bored rather quickly.

The story challenges you to find clues regarding a string of violent crimes committed by a gang of outlaws, in order to catch and convict them. Most of the plot is relayed using static artwork, so you shouldn’t expect any exciting cutscenes. The dialog and the characters are fairly simple as well, but they are not very important in a match-3 game anyway.

Each successful combo that you score brings you a certain amount of cash, which can be used at the shop in order to purchase various power-ups. Most of them allow you to destroy tiles with a single click, which comes in handy if you find yourself without too many moves left, but other items have unique powers as well. It’s quite simple to acquire the money, so it shouldn’t be difficult to take advantage of them.

As far as the visual quality is concerned, the match-3 bits look quite nice, as do the hidden object backgrounds and the items you must find. The artwork is not very high-resolution, but it holds up pretty well. The soundtrack is quite exciting and upbeat, making it really simple to stay focused on the action and not worry about being distracted.

In the end, Wild West Chase is not going to daze the more experience fans of the genre, but it’s fun enough for everyone to have a good time for a few hours. The Wild West theme is quite rare nowadays.
