When Our Journey Ends Demo

Few things are better than imagining yourself in a different world, because this allows you to escape reality and be someone else for a while. Books are great for this, but you can also achieve the same feeling with a movie or a video game. In fact, it’s all about telling a story, as well as creating a unique setting that feels real and sticks with you for years to come.

When Our Journey Ends is an interactive visual novel that presents you with a lovely story about a girl who’s about to finish high school. In essence, the whole game is about the train station where she takes her ride to school, because she also happens to be the only passenger to ever use the said train station. Because of this, she formed a pretty close relationship with the few people working there.

Unlike most visual novels, this one allows you to make choices along the way, which theoretically means that you can influence the story and reach different endings depending on what you say. On the other hand, this is not present in the demo, because you can only play through the first chapter or so. Even so, it’s great to see that you are not forced to just sit and watch the story unfold.

You meet a few of the train station personnel at the beginning of the game, and you can find out more about them and their personalities. The whole thing feels very cozy and relaxing, given the fact that all of the characters are friendly with each other. More drama is planned for the full version, especially since the actual plot starts when the train stops in the middle of nowhere for no reason at all.

As for the graphics, the artwork is sublime, not to mention original and very detailed. The style is very similar to a painting, which is great if you are a fan of art. Even the characters are nicely designed and quite memorable, and they also come with a variety of facial expressions and poses. On top of all this, there’s also a smooth soundtrack playing in the background to complete the atmosphere.

In the end, When Our Journey Ends can keep you engaged from start to finish, or at least the demo at hand can. As long as the final game is just as well-designed, visual novel fans should find great joy in the story and the general atmosphere.
