Weather Lord: Following the Princess Collector's Edition

The weather always had a huge impact on human society, and people liked to pretend that they had at least some form of control over it. Dances, prayers and even sacrifices were made to please the gods that supposedly brought rain over the harvest, and it would be pretty tough to argue against it if coincidence brought some clouds over, at least back in those days.

Weather Lord: Following the Princess Collector's Edition is a time management game in which you play the role of a hero that has the ability to control the forces of nature. Thankfully, he uses his powers for good, which means that you’ll be utilizing the Sun, the wind and the rain to help people. Given the genre of the game, quick reactions are a must as well, at least if you don’t choose the casual mode.

The story starts with a princess that gets herself captured, as they usually do. It is your duty to rescue her from the grips of evil, but things get more complicated along the way. The road to the princess is littered with devastated cities and villages, which means that you must stop from your journey and help them rebuild. Thanks to your weather controlling powers, the task is a bit easier than it would be otherwise.

Each map is based on the same principles, although the gameplay gets more complicated the more you manage to win. In essence, you have to clear the road, build structures and deal with a few secondary objectives as well. Food, wood and a few other resources are required to keep the workers happy and rebuild structures. Your powers come in handy whenever the harvest needs rain, or when the mill needs wind.

It can get repetitive after a while, especially since a lot of time you seem to do pointless tasks in order to lengthen the mission time. There are objects blocking the road that require a certain amount of resources to be removed, which means that you’ll be gathering food/wood for a few minutes without anything else happening in the meantime. Thankfully, at least the graphics are nice, and there are plenty of interesting landscapes to admire.

All things considered, Weather Lord: Following the Princess Collector's Edition can successfully keep you occupied and entertained for a while, at least if you are OK with repetition. Its colorful visual style should be perfect for the younger audience.
