War World Demo

Mechs are basically robots used in combat, mainly due to their heavy armor, incredible strength and increased resistance to bullets. Whenever future wars are envisioned, mechs are always present, whether they are sentient, or just suits for people to control on the battlefield and wield their superior firepower.

War World has a pretty rich back story to explain the events that are taking place in the game, although you do not actually get to witness them or have any part to play in their development. Hence, the action is happening on a distant planet from another galaxy, intuitively called “War World”. Here, most of the daily activities involve battle and massive guns, which is why the leaders are bent on keeping the conflict going.

Your role in the game, however, is to kill as many mechs as possible, while controlling one yourself on the battlefield. Thus, regardless of the events that supposedly happen in the background, they do not interfere at all with the actual gameplay and you quickly forget everything about politics and space geography, especially when you are busy avoiding bullets and plasma blasts shot by biped tanks.

In essence, the mechanics are inspired from titles like Unreal Tournament and various other such multiplayer shooters, only with robots instead of people. This means that you get to toy around with far bigger guns, as well as cause much more destruction around you. Since the game supports a lot of players at once on the map, the battles that ensue are very intense, especially when you consider the fact that each mech is slightly different from the others.

This is due to the fact that you are able to customize and upgrade the robots, using a wide range of parts and components that increase your efficiency on the battlefield. Whether it's better weapons or thicker armor, every upgrade gives you a slight advantage, which can be vital in the ongoing war. The online mode also features a ladder system, which displays the top players from around the world and provides everyone with an equal chance to reach the top.

War World may not be be the most original title out there, but the mechanics are decent and you can squeeze quite a few hours of fun out of the game. Moreover, the fact that you get more powerful as you advance through the ranks gives you a strong enough incentive to keep you playing.
