Navigate tricky levels and avoid the traps in order to reach the bone and move on to the next stage #Solve Puzzle #Arcade Puzzle #Puzzle Game #Walk #Darkness #Light
Since everyone likes a good challenge every once in a while, difficult video games have always had a strong market for themselves. Even if the actual gameplay is nothing special and the graphics are severely subpar, a collection of tricky puzzles can take your mind off things for a while, and that’s a good thing. On the other hand, it’s quite difficult to come up with something both fun and challenging.
Walk Into Darkness is a simple puzzle game designed to keep you occupied and on edge at all times, even if the actual gameplay is disarmingly simple at a glance. In essence, your goal is to pull a green smiley face through a series of tricky stages, most of which are littered with obstacles and traps designed to ruin your progress and stop you from reaching the end.
Probably the most interesting feature of the game is the way you move around, because an elastic string is used to pull the smiley face. Hence, the movement is jerky and never 100% accurate. On the other hand, although the idea of having to rely on experience and a bit of luck in order to reach your goal is exciting, it only works if the game is not full of collision bugs, which unfortunately it is.
The smiley face gets destroyed if you happen to touch one of the moving obstacles, so you’d better avoid them. However, some walls do not allow you to pass through unless you turn off the lights. Somehow, the act of hiding the said walls makes them invisible and non-solid, which is a win-win situation for you. Naturally, it’s all part of the game, and it does sort of make the experience a bit more interesting.
When it comes to the technical side of things, the game does not excel in any regard, and it actually looks crude and sketchy. However, it doesn’t really matter if you manage to have some fun with it, which is possible if you do not ask too much from your puzzle games. Each level is at least different, and the challenge changes from stage to stage.
All things considered, Walk Into Darkness could have been a lot more with the right approach, but it ended up being a boring experience after the first few minutes. Thus, unless you do not mind being disappointed, you’d be much better off trying something else on the same topic.
