Virtual Frontiers: Daniel Boone and the Hunters of Kentucky Demo
Witness the struggle of early American settlers as they attempt to establish a new frontier before the American Revolution #Virtual Frontiers #Daniel Boone #Hunters of Kentucky #Virtual #Frontier #Boone
America’s history is riddled with conflicts and revolutions, especially back when the first settlers were trying to claim the land for themselves from the native tribes that inhabited the continent. Hence, a lot of violence ensued between the two factions, which resulted in many lost lives and decades of reciprocal hate.
Virtual Frontiers: Daniel Boone and the Hunters of Kentucky is a first-person shooter that aims to portray the struggle of the early American settlers as they tried to establish new frontiers for their home. Hence, you get to be a part of the events and witness the lives of famous people, such as James Harrod, Simon Kenton, and Danial Boone himself.
Naturally, the native tribes are also part of the picture and you interact with the Wyandot, Shawnee, and Cherokee in different parts of the story. Speaking of which, the plot takes you through some of the most major events of the period, in an attempt to provide you with insight on the lives of the natives and the settlers that disputed the ownership of the land.
Unfortunately, the experience might not be as pleasant as you hope, because the game comes with a lot of issues when it comes to functionality. The gameplay itself is quite simple and it doesn’t require too much getting used to, but there are many bugs and inconveniences that make even the simplest tasks annoying. Hence, it is entirely possible to get stuck in a patch a grass and be forced to reload, although it’s definitely not a regular occurrence either.
Your eyes won’t be too pleased either, considering the cheap and lazy level design and the poor quality of the graphics engine used to render the environment. There are only a handful of character models for the NPCs in the game, while the landscapes are devoid of anything interesting. Linearity is also a big problem, even if you might sometimes stumble into special areas that hold some mildly interesting secrets.
All things considered, Virtual Frontiers: Daniel Boone and the Hunters of Kentucky may indeed have a unique subject and quite the interesting approach to it, but the experience is way too raw and unpolished to be worth the bother. However, it can be a good idea to sit through it, if only to find out more about the conflict and read the dialogue.
