Follow the adventures of Violett as she makes her way through a twisted and beautiful world #Adventure game #Violett game #Point and click #Adventure #Violett #Remastered
Violett Remastered is a point and click adventure that features some hidden object mechanics developed and published by a studio named Forever Entertainment.
Violett is a game that takes no prisoners, meaning that you’re either going to love or to have it. It’s difficult to understand why the developers would choose to add hidden object elements to a perfectly good adventure game, but they did it, and it’s not really adding the overall value. If I were to play the game without it, I think that it would have been the same, perhaps better.
Having always to look for small marbles to collect from a very colorful environment is not exactly what I expect from a game that starts nicely as a point and click adventure. I wanted to solve puzzles and see what crazy thing the developers put in the next scene, but no, I have to stare at the screen to find some stupid marbles.
Violett starts really well, and we get to see a little bit of the girl’s story. She just moved to an old house with her parents, who seem to be fighting a lot. She’s drawn into a strange world, much like Alice, and she needs to escape it. The parallels with real life are quite evident.
Some of you might also notice that Violett feels a little like another game just like it, Coraline. The resemblance is not all that powerful, but it’s there, especially if you played that game as well.
The really strong suite of Violett is the artwork, which is just stunning. The designers put in a lot of work, and it shows. You won’t find this quality in many other games. Unfortunately, this is where the praise ends.
You control Violett with the mouse, just like in any other adventure, and you can interact with various objects. The goal is to clear the room and move on to the next; and yes, don’t forget to look for the marbles. Some puzzles are easy; other require a little bit of help from the game.
The gameplay mechanics don’t always work, and you will find yourself clicking and dragging the mouse, numerous times, to do something that would require a single click.
For the most part, Violett is a really enjoyable game, but it would have been nice just to drop the whole marble thing, and focus on the puzzles, which are good enough on their own.
