There’s obviously no shortage of vampire stories nowadays, not after so many movies and books have been written on the subject in the last couple of years. On the other hand, there’s always room for a little more, especially if you are a fan of the genre and you do not mind having to deal with the same cliches over and over again..

Vampire Legends: The Count of New Orleans Collector's Edition is a hidden object puzzle adventure in which you have to get to the bottom of a strange case involving vampires and murders. The gameplay mechanics include basic hidden object scenes in which you have to spot the required items, a few actual puzzles that demand a bit of brainpower, and the usual exploration and clue gathering.

As far as the story is concerned, the whole thing starts with the main character developing a random photo in their improvised darkroom. However, the photo appears to feature to ghostly figures, who obviously turn out to be murderous vampires that need to be stopped. There’s not a lot of depth to the whole thing, but it can be pretty exciting to lead the investigation.

The actual puzzles are nowhere near as complex as they would need to be in order to make the experience memorable, but on the other hand they can be fun. It’s usually about finding the right pattern or unlocking some sort of mechanism, but there are variations as you manage to get further and further into the game. The rest of the hidden object scenes should balance things out.

The graphics are almost the same as in every other game of this type, which means that while the environments are very detailed, they are hand drawn and not three-dimensional. The same goes for the cinematics, which can be a bit awkward if you are not accustomed to the genre. On the other hand, this is certainly not something to sway you from completing the adventure.

In the end, Vampire Legends: The Count of New Orleans Collector's Edition could certainly use a few touch-ups, but the quality level should be high enough for the regular fans of the genre. The story might be good enough to keep you invested in the action.
