Being close to nature is not really an option for many people at the moment, given the fact that cities are much more populated than rural areas. Hence, small parks and the occasional tree is the only contact some people have with nature unless they take a trip somewhere in the mountains. Thankfully, we are striving to protect certain areas and keep them as wild as possible.

Vacation Adventures: Park Ranger 5 is a hidden object game in which you get the chance to play the role of a park ranger and look after Pinecreek Hills National Park, one of the oldest parks out there. However, the gameplay mechanics are more or less the same as in every other game in the series, and not very different from what you may have experienced in other HOPAs out there.

There are a couple of interesting scenarios, on the other hand, such as when you find yourself piloting a plane, or visiting some of the most beautiful places around the park. Obviously, you do not get the chance to actually interact with anything, because your task is to observe each scene and spot the items listed at the bottom of the screen, while making as few mistakes as possible.

You also have to solve some actual puzzles along the way, some of which challenge you to put pictures back together using the pieces. They are not very challenging, but at least they break the routine and allow your eyes to get a timeout. Some of the puzzles can be rather time consuming, but at the end of the day it’s quite relaxing to occupy your mind with something simple.

As for the graphics, you shouldn’t expect anything out of the ordinary, since every scene is static, with barely a few animations. On the other hand, the level of detail in each landscape is great, so you have plenty to look at while trying to pinpoint the required items. The sound effects are pretty nice as well, making you feel like you are truly in the middle of nature.

In the end, Vacation Adventures: Park Ranger 5 is a great way to relax and forget about your troubles for a while, depending on how much you enjoy HOPAs. Hence, it certainly has what it takes to keep your mind busy.
