The Unreal Tournament series established itself as the ultimate multiplayer experience, featuring fast-paced action across futuristic landscapes and powerful weapons to top it all off. It also bundles some of the most popular modes in FPS, including deathmatch, capture the flag and king of the hill, which guarantee countless hours of fun.
Unreal Tournament 2003 brought a lot of improvements over its predecessor, perfecting almost every part of the already highly acclaimed first part. Thus, thanks to the new maps, weapons, enemies and least, but not last, the significantly improved graphic quality, this new installment is a class higher than anything else in the category, as long as you are into sci-fi shooting marathons on top of alien planets.
As previously mentioned, the classic multiplayer modes are all present, but new ones have been added as well. Hence, you can now compete against each other in bombing run, invasion and mutant, all of which feature new gameplay mechanics and let you try out new ways to slaughter your enemies while achieving the goal of the map.
The new Unreal engine used for the game really stands up to its predecessor, featuring a multitude of new effects and enhancements that provide you with a much more realistic combat experience. It also comes with high-resolution textures and a lot of post-processing effects, as well as breathtaking particle effects for weapon bursts and various other improvements.
The sound part, on the other hand, has been given a little more attention this time around, with a much more adrenaline-inducing soundtrack and new sounds for almost all the guns. The already present enemy taunts and commands selection has been extended as well, featuring new spoken material to get a rise out of you whenever you get killed.
Not a lot of bad things can be said about Unreal Tournament 2003, since it manages to comprise almost every element required in the making of a visceral multiplayer FPS. Thus, the incredible graphics, smooth gameplay and hefty selection of maps should provide you with plenty to play for quite a while.
