Unhack 2 Demo
Fight a war against computer viruses in this exciting visual novel game with great artwork #Visual novel #Interactive story #Role-playing game #Novel #Anime #Role-play
Hacking may not be as exciting as it is depicted in most movies, but that's not to say it doesn’t require expertise, patience and intelligence. Granted, the same skills could also be used to develop better software instead, but no everyone wants to help. Hence, there will probably always be unethical hackers trying to exploit security vulnerabilities in browsers, servers and various other software or technology.
Unhack 2 is a visual novel game in which you have to fight against viruses and use your expertise to stop a large-scale infection, as well as to interact with a variety of interesting characters. Obviously, you do not have to actually write code or toy with BASH scripts yourself. Instead, you just watch the events unfold step-by-step, while your character serves as an avatar.
As far as the story is concerned, the plot revolves around Smash Security once again, the cybersecurity firm owned by your character. The events actually have a lot to do with the ones from the first episode, so it helps if you are familiar with that one. You also get to interact with new AIs, while the villain is a so-called Program X, a virus bent on infecting everything.
Unfortunately, the game is not as interactive as it could be, which is kind of a bummer. However, it’s the nature of the genre, so it’s not like you go in unprepared for this. The dialog is quite sharp and engaging, on the other hand, so it should really feel like watching a movie instead. Certain characters remain hidden for quite a while as well, making it that much more exciting to see how everything turns out in the end.
As always, the artwork is actually amazing, regardless of whether you are a fan of anime or not. Not much can be said about the backgrounds, although there are some pretty cool ones, but the characters are very nicely shaded and presented. On top of it all, the soundtrack goes great with the general atmosphere and mood, although it’s not really the unforgettable type either.
In the end, if you find visual novels entertaining and engaging, Unhack 2 is one of the better choices you can make at the moment. The story is intriguing, the character artwork is great, and there’s enough mystery to keep you intrigued all the way through.
