Under Water Apocalypse Demo
Kill the monsters and try to survive the underwater journey in this unusual arcade game #Underwater apocalypse #Arcade game #Shoot 'em up #Water #Apocalypse #Shooter
Although we humans have some pretty powerful technology on our hands, it seems that it is still not enough to properly explore and study the depths of the ocean. As far as we know, Cthulhu may still be real and lying dormant on the bottom of the ocean right now, which is both exciting and unsettling, but probably untrue as well.
Under Water Apocalypse is a simple video game in which you have to control a ship to the best of your abilities and shoot every nasty creature that gets in your way. “Simple” is an overstatement, on the other hand, because there are few things that require less effort and imagination than this game. However, you do need a lot of patience.
The underlying idea is that you have no control over the ship’s propulsion, which means that it is constantly trying to move forwards. Your role is to steer it as efficiently as possible, while avoiding the nearby rocks to the best of your abilities. As a bonus, you cannot control the ship’s guns either, which means that you must use movement to destroy the monsters.
Since you cannot break or do anything to alter the speed at which you are moving, your only option is to steer in circles and try to avoid the walls. Naturally, you won’t be able to do it all the time, especially in the beginning. The awful part is that whenever you hit an object, the ship flips and you are suddenly heading in the opposite direction. This obviously gets frustrating after a few minutes, given the fact that you are not rewarded with anything nice for your effort.
The gameplay itself is not very rewarding either, since you receive nothing in exchange for killing the monsters. Even if this is but a demo and its purpose is to present the main idea behind the game, there’s just not enough content to form too much of an opinion. The visual aspect is also poorly executed, with nothing to catch the eye.
All things considered, Under Water Apocalypse probably won’t be able to surprise or entertain anyone, because it lacks the elements to do that. Hence, unless the game receives copious amounts of content updates and many gameplay improvements, there aren’t too many reasons to give it a try.
