Two Worlds 2 Chapter Edition Demo

Sometimes, role-playing games can make the experience memorable without recurring to deep storylines and intricate characters participating in them. A robust combat system can be just as fun as a top-notch story, as long as you are captivated by what happens on the screen and you do not mind spending a few hours solving meaningless quests in a rather boring game world.
Two Worlds 2 comes after a rather mediocre first attempt at the genre, with a few improvements to make you forget about what happened in the past. However, the main concept is rather similar and the atmosphere is very familiar, not to mention the gameplay mechanics. In essence, everything has been polished and refined, but maybe what the series needed was a few fresh ideas here and there.
Story-wise, everything resumes from where the first title left off, with the main hero trying to stop the Dark Lord Gandohar from ruining the world. However, his sister gets kidnapped and he gets imprisoned by Gandohar, only to be rescued by a band of orcs, for some reason. As such, the rest of the plot revolves around the main character’s attempt to find the dark lord’s weakness, in order to defeat him once and for all.
The game excels in a few areas, which makes the experience a bit weird when it comes to the overall atmosphere. Hence, while the dialogue and the quests are boring and repetitive, the combat is quite interesting and so is the magic management system, which keeps you invested in the action. As such, it’s up to you whether you can turn a blind eye to the aforementioned imperfections and choose to enjoy the good parts.
From a technical standpoint, the game’s graphics engine is quite luxurious and it can handle a lot of details, not to mention the beautiful special effects that bring the world to life. The animations are a bit too stiff and glitchy at times, but as a whole, the game looks nice. The soundtrack is decent as well, but it certainly doesn’t make an impression on you.
All things considered, Two Worlds 2 is the kind of game that’s either a hit or a miss for most gamers, with not a lot of ground in between. Hence, if the mechanics click with your personal preferences, this can very well keep you busy for many hours. Otherwise, you might not even want to get past the five-minute mark.
