Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002 is a golf simulator that allows you to enjoy the same level of prestige as the best golfers out there and play on a variety of famous courses around the country. Not only that, but you also get the chance to compete against the top players in the sport and see whether you’ve got what it takes to beat them and snatch the trophy for yourself.

Just like all the other episodes in the series until now, the game tries to portray the sport of golf as realistically as possible, so a lot of work went into the gameplay. Given the rather primitive technology at the time of the release, you should not expect too much nowadays, but it comes close enough, and it certainly gets the point across. Thus, you can enjoy believable physics when it comes to ball trajectory and various other environmental effects.

The game comes with a variety of courses you can play on, all of which have been modeled after the real ones. You can obviously compete in tournaments and go head-to-head with the best of them, as long as you have enough experience to take them on. Speaking of which, the difficulty curve is quite steep and it may take you a while to get acquainted with the mechanics, but once you do, everything else should fall into place.

The graphics certainly do not impress nowadays, especially since they look rather crude and unpolished to the modern eye. However, back when this was first released, everything looked slick and refined, so you should cut the game a break in this regard. Even so, the player models are nicely made and the courses are pretty detailed themselves.

All things considered, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002 should prove to be quite the pleasant distraction for every golf enthusiast out there. However, the difficulty might scare away a few beginners, which is quite a shame, considering the amount of work that went into the game.
