Theatre of War 2: Afrika 1943 Demo
A tactical wargame in which you get to be a part of the greatest battles that took place throughout Africa during World War II #Theatre of War 2 #World War II #Strategy game #Theatre #War #Afrika
The second World War truly took over the globe, given the fact that the conflict extended from Northern Europe, to Japan and even the African continent. Moreover, some of the most famous battles took place in the blazing deserts of Africa, where Rommel’s troops fought the British forces and many lost their lives in the gruesome skirmishes that turned the tide of the war.
Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943 is a strategy game in which you can simulate some of these battles and apply your own tactics, in order to see whether they could have ended in a different way. Thus, you have the possibility to play as both sides and command the troops to the best of your ability, while being in complete control of the battlefield and everything that happens on it.
The game puts a variety of scenarios at your disposal, but there is also a campaign mode that follows a chronological order and allows you to experience the entire conflict as it really happened. In case you do not want to do that, you can just select individual battles and tackle them in the order you desire. Moreover, the troop selection can be customized and adjusted before each scenario, to make matters more interesting.
The Theatre of War franchise is quite well known for their attention to realism when it comes to ballistics and vehicle physics, which why this episode is no different either. Tanks and various other vehicles react incredibly well to the terrain around them, while the projectiles they fire follow the real world ballistics pretty well. Hence, the battles are exciting to watch, especially since you can pause the action at any time and just gaze at the units.
As far as the user interface and the controls are concerned, it should be fairly easy to get used to them, as long as you are at least somewhat familiar with the genre. The camera can be tricky in the beginning, but you can change it from RTS to free mode, in order to be able to rotate and pan freely. The graphics are detailed and quite demanding, especially since there are usually a lot of units on the screen at the same time.
In the end, although Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943 manages to provide both experienced players and newcomers with a satisfying combination of tactics, content and realism. The graphics are top-class and the physics are convincing, which only adds to the overall atmosphere.
