The Superlatives: Aetherfall Demo
Defend Victorian London from all sorts of terrible villains in this text-based role-playing game #Adventure game #Superhero game #Role-playing game #Superhero #Adventure #Victorian
Heroes are what keep stories from getting boring sometimes, even if they do not exhibit superpowers when they save people. Just the act of being brave and putting their life in danger in order to save someone else is enough to make the audience clap, at least if the writing is engaging enough. Thus, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there are so many video games out there focusing on the subject.
The Superlatives: Aetherfall is a text-based adventure game that puts you in the role of an individual with special powers, who one day gets invited by a prestigious supergroup to join them. You get to choose what kind of abilities your character has, as well as customize a few other things about your in-game personality. To make things even better, the whole story changes depending on your input.
To begin with, things go wrong right from the start, because the society that asks you to join them has its headquarters destroyed by villains on your first day on the job. Some of the members are kidnapped in the process as well, which means that you have to go on a mission to rescue them and get some revenge. Everything else is left up to you, including the chosen approach.
Unlike in your typical superhero story, this one features a plethora of villains, each one of which is weirder than the other. You are free to approach them with the desired strategy, because violence is not always the best way. There are other characters to meet along the way as well, including some that may end up as your romantic partners. Naturally, you are not restricted in any way when it comes to sexual orientation.
To make things more interesting, you can keep an eye on your character’s evolution through the stats screen, where most of your skills are displayed. Some increase as you use them more often, while others allow you to unlock new abilities. There’s a fairly long list of achievements you can pursue, which obviously requires multiple playthroughs.
The Superlatives: Aetherfall is a pretty long and enjoyable adventure, especially since you have a say in how it evolves. Thus, even if there are no graphics to keep you busy, the action itself should be enough to make the experience memorable.
