The story revolves around a powerful artifact that can call awful creatures into existence and unleash them upon the world. Thankfully, your character has the necessary knowledge and tools to deal with such things, which is what the whole plot is about. Thus, your job is to hunt down the beasts and find the artifact before things get too out of hand.

Although most of your time is spent trying to pinpoint the important items in every scene, there are also many different types of puzzles to tackle along the way. Some of these feature classic mechanics, while others feature a spin on an old idea, making the adventure a bit more engaging. However, it’s still rather annoying that you can only use most items only once and only in certain situations, even if common sense dictates that it would come in handy in other ways as well.

The artwork is quite colorful and detailed most of the time, especially since a few of the objects or creatures are crudely animated as well. Each scene is unique and usually oozing with detail, although the cutscenes are a bit too stiff and annoying. The same can be said about the voice acting, because it’s obvious that the actors are not top-notch.

Even if The Keeper of Antiques: The Imaginary World does not feature too many original elements when it comes to gameplay and the puzzles, at least the story is engaging and the mystery tantalizing.
