Wizards always seem to cast the right spell at the right time, which is why you rarely see one of them casting a fireball instead of a lightning strike. Obviously, mistakes can happen in video games when you are the one playing the role of the wizard in question, but the subject is rarely approached by popular movies or books. Hence, we are lead to believe that it’s pretty tough to mess up being a sorcerer.

The Far Kingdoms: Magic Mosaics is a puzzle game that challenges you to solve a variety of mosaics, in order to obtain crude, but colorful depictions of various items or animals. As you may have already guessed, it’s necessary that you pay attention to the instructions for each line and row in order to solve the said puzzles, which makes the whole thing that much more challenging.

There’s even a story to keep you company along the way, and it’s about a princess and a wizard. As it happens, the wizard mistakes the spell he was trying to cast and is teleported far away from his home, right near the beautiful princess. Thus, it is her job to help the mage get back home, as well as rebuild her kingdom at the same time, using the gold obtained from solving the riddles.

The most important thing in a puzzle game is that the challenge escalates at a steady pace, so that you are less likely to give up too soon because of a particularly tough puzzle. Thankfully, there shouldn’t be any problem in this regard, since the puzzles start off pretty easy, and they get more complicated along the way. Obviously, you can still get stuck in some cases, especially if you rush and don’t pay attention to the numbers.

Speaking of which, you are allowed to make only a handful of mistakes, which in this case means wrong clicks. Once you get past a certain limit, the whole thing resets, which means that you are forced to take it from zero every time. It’s quite punishing, but it’s also all the more reason to really think about every click and avoid split-second decisions.

Even if The Far Kingdoms: Magic Mosaics is not that different from the rest of the mosaic puzzle games out there, at least it doesn’t have any bugs or annoying new mechanics. Thus, if you are a fan of the genre, then you should be quite comfortable right from the start.
