Although spirits usually haunt houses and smash the furniture around, some of the stories talk about much grimmer possibilities. However, there always seems to be a way to get rid of them for good.

The Dreamatorium of Dr. Magnus 2 is a casual puzzle game in which your primary goal is to investigate the disappearance of a girl, while dealing with a few supernatural phenomena as well. Most of the gameplay revolves around spotting unusual objects and solving riddles, but since every puzzle is somewhat different than the rest, you can have a lot of fun along the way.

The story is not very complicated, but it’s intriguing enough to keep the players invested in the action. Besides a rather unusual kidnapping, you must also deal with the spirit of a vengeful ghost, which appears to be the root of everything that’s going on. By retracing the steps of the missing girl, you can unravel the mystery and maybe even find a way to deal with the spirit, if you play your cards right.

The actual gameplay is quite relaxed and simple to understand, since all you need to do is figure out what the next clue is. Whether you have to scour the screen for a specific object or deal with an actual puzzle, there’s always something to think about. The pace is relatively slow and forgiving, although you can also increase the difficulty level if you feel like things are too relaxed to provide you with a challenge.

As usually, the graphics are decent and colorful, albeit static and expressionless in most cases. The level design is intriguing and quite detailed, but it’s a shame that you cannot explore the environments freely. The soundtrack is engaging as well, because it oscillated depending on what’s happening in the story.

In the end, The Dreamatorium of Dr. Magnus 2 is a friendly and approachable puzzle game, not to mention fun if you enjoy the genre. The story is interesting enough to keep you from getting bored all the way to the end.
